Book Description
A simple, and rapid, radiometric method for the simultaneous determination of uranium and thorium in ores, is described. Provided the ore to be analysed is known to be in equilibrium, the 0.240 MeV thorium B peak, and the 0.352 MeV radium B peak, serve as ideal thorium and uranium tracers respectively. The optimum single-channel analyser settings are given. The results obtained are compared with those obtained by other radiometric techniques, as well as the umpire chemical values. Finally, the expected accuracy and precision of the method is discussed.
