Book Description
We present a review on the measurements of the CKM angle [gamma] ([phi]3)1 as performed by the BABAR and Belle experiments at the asymmetric-energy ee− B factories colliders PEP-II and KEKB. These measurements are using either charged or neutral B decays. For charged B decays the modes {tilde D}°K−, {tilde D}*°K−, and {tilde D}°K*− are employed, where {tilde D}° indicates either a D° or a {bar D}° meson. Direct CP violation is exploited. It is caused by interferences between V{sub ub} and V{sub cb} accessible transitions that generate asymmetries in the final states. For these decays various methods exist to enhance the sensitivity to the V{sub ub} transition, carrying the weak phase [gamma]. For neutral B decays, the modes D{sup (*){+-}}[pi]{sup {-+}} and D{sup {+-}}[rho]{sup {-+}} are used. In addition to the V{sub ub} and V{sub cb} interferences, these modes are sensitive to the B°-{bar B}° mixing, so that time dependent analyses are performed to extract sin(2[beta] + [gamma]). An alternative method would use the lower branching ratios decay modes {tilde D}{sup (*)0}{bar K}{sup (*)0} where much larger asymmetries are expected. The various available methods are mostly ''theoretically clean'' and always free of penguins diagrams. In some cases a high sensitivity to [gamma] is expected and large asymmetries may be seen. But these measurements are always experimentally difficult as one has to face with either low branching ratios, or small asymmetries, or additional technical/theoretical difficulties due to Dalitz/SU(3) and re-scattering models needed to treat/estimate nuisance parameters such as unknown strong phases and the relative magnitude of the amplitude of the interfering ''V{sub ub}'' transitions. Thus at the present time only a relatively limited precision on [gamma] can be extracted from these measurements. The current world average is [gamma] = (7826{sup +19}){sup o} [1]. For other methods and long term perspectives, as discussed in details, the reader is invited to consult the proceedings of the recent CKM workshop that was held in Nagoya (Japan) in December 2006 [2].

New Methods for Extracting the CKM Angle [gamma] Using B{sup {+-}} 2!D°K− ; {anti D}°K−

Book Description
In this talk the author will discuss the extraction of the CKM angle [gamma] at B-factories through the interference of the subprocesses B− → K−D° and B− → K−{anti D}°. This seemingly impossible interference may be accomplished by allowing both D° and {anti D}° to decay to a common final state. If only CP eigenstate decay modes of the D are considered, the branching ratio for B− → {anti D}°K− must be experimentally determined in order to extract [gamma]. He describes why this determination is likely to be experimentally impossible. On the other hand, if more general D decays are considered, the angle [gamma] may then be determined. In fact, it is possible that a reasonable determination of [gamma] may be made with O(108) B's.

Book Description
We describe a measurement of the direct CP asymmetry between inclusive b [yields] s[gamma] and [bar b] [yields] [bar s][gamma] decays. This asymmetry is expected to be less than 0.01 in the Standard Model, but could be enhanced up to about 0.10 by new physics contributions. We use a sample of 89 million B[bar B] pairs recorded with the BABAR detector at PEP-II, from which we reconstruct a set of 12 exclusive b [yields] s[gamma] final states containing one charged or neutral kaon and one to three pions. We measure an asymmetry of A[sub CP] (b [yields] s[gamma]) = 0.025 [+-] 0.050(stat.) [+-] 0.015(syst.), corresponding to an allowed range of -0.06

Book Description
The direct CP asymmetry in the untagged inclusive channel {bar B} → X{sub s+d} [gamma] provides a strict test of the standard model. It has been shown beyond the partonic level that this asymmetry is negligibly small thanks to U-spin relations and to the unitarity of the CKM matrix. In the present paper we investigate this relation beyond the SM; in particular, we analyze to which extent deviations from this prediction are possible in supersymmetric scenarios. We analyze the minimal flavour violation scenario, including tan [beta]-enhanced terms and using the complete two-loop renormalization group running. Our analysis fully takes into account also the EDM constraints on the supersymmetric phases. We investigate possible correlations between the tagged and the untagged CP asymmetries and the indirect sensitivity of the latter to the {bar B} → X{sub d} [gamma] CP asymmetry. Furthermore, we derive general model-independent formulae for the branching ratios and CP asymmetries for the inclusive {bar B} → X{sub d} [gamma] and {bar B} → X{sub s} [gamma] modes, and update the corresponding SM predictions.
