Geometric Control Theory
Author: Velimir Jurdjevic
Publisher: Cambridge University Press
ISBN: 0521495024
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 516
Book Description
Geometric control theory is concerned with the evolution of systems subject to physical laws but having some degree of freedom through which motion is to be controlled. This book describes the mathematical theory inspired by the irreversible nature of time evolving events. The first part of the book deals with the issue of being able to steer the system from any point of departure to any desired destination. The second part deals with optimal control, the question of finding the best possible course. An overlap with mathematical physics is demonstrated by the Maximum principle, a fundamental principle of optimality arising from geometric control, which is applied to time-evolving systems governed by physics as well as to man-made systems governed by controls. Applications are drawn from geometry, mechanics, and control of dynamical systems. The geometric language in which the results are expressed allows clear visual interpretations and makes the book accessible to physicists and engineers as well as to mathematicians.

Control of Discrete-Time Descriptor Systems
Author: Alexey A. Belov
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 331978479X
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 184
Book Description
Control of Discrete-Time Descriptor Systems takes an anisotropy-based approach to the explanation of random input disturbance with an information-theoretic representation. It describes the random input signal more precisely, and the anisotropic norm minimization included in the book enables readers to tune their controllers better through the mathematical methods provided. The book contains numerous examples of practical applications of descriptor systems in various fields, from robotics to economics, and presents an information-theoretic approach to the mathematical description of coloured noise. Anisotropy-based analysis and design for descriptor systems is supplied along with proofs of basic statements, which help readers to understand the algorithms proposed, and to undertake their own numerical simulations. This book serves as a source of ideas for academic researchers and postgraduate students working in the control of discrete-time systems. The control design procedures outlined are numerically effective and easily implementable in MATLAB®

Fractional Order Systems—Control Theory and Applications
Author: Omar Naifar
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3030714462
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 224
Book Description
This book aims to bring together the latest innovative knowledge, analysis, and synthesis of fractional control problems of nonlinear systems as well as some related applications. Fractional order systems (FOS) are dynamical systems that can be modelled by a fractional differential equation carried with a non-integer derivative. In the last few decades, the growth of science and engineering systems has considerably stimulated the employment of fractional calculus in many subjects of control theory, for example, in stability, stabilization, controllability, observability, observer design, and fault estimation. The application of control theory in FOS is an important issue in many engineering applications. So, to accurately describe these systems, the fractional order differential equations have been introduced.

Control Theory from the Geometric Viewpoint
Author: Andrei A. Agrachev
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3662064049
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 415
Book Description
This book presents some facts and methods of the Mathematical Control Theory treated from the geometric point of view. The book is mainly based on graduate courses given by the first coauthor in the years 2000-2001 at the International School for Advanced Studies, Trieste, Italy. Mathematical prerequisites are reduced to standard courses of Analysis and Linear Algebra plus some basic Real and Functional Analysis. No preliminary knowledge of Control Theory or Differential Geometry is required. What this book is about? The classical deterministic physical world is described by smooth dynamical systems: the future in such a system is com pletely determined by the initial conditions. Moreover, the near future changes smoothly with the initial data. If we leave room for "free will" in this fatalistic world, then we come to control systems. We do so by allowing certain param eters of the dynamical system to change freely at every instant of time. That is what we routinely do in real life with our body, car, cooker, as well as with aircraft, technological processes etc. We try to control all these dynamical systems! Smooth dynamical systems are governed by differential equations. In this book we deal only with finite dimensional systems: they are governed by ordi nary differential equations on finite dimensional smooth manifolds. A control system for us is thus a family of ordinary differential equations. The family is parametrized by control parameters.

Analysis and Design of Descriptor Linear Systems
Author: Guang-Ren Duan
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1441963979
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 504
Book Description
Descriptor linear systems theory is an important part in the general field of control systems theory, and has attracted much attention in the last two decades. In spite of the fact that descriptor linear systems theory has been a topic very rich in content, there have been only a few books on this topic. This book provides a systematic introduction to the theory of continuous-time descriptor linear systems and aims to provide a relatively systematic introduction to the basic results in descriptor linear systems theory. The clear representation of materials and a large number of examples make this book easy to understand by a large audience. General readers will find in this book a comprehensive introduction to the theory of descriptive linear systems. Researchers will find a comprehensive description of the most recent results in this theory and students will find a good introduction to some important problems in linear systems theory.
