MODELISATION 3D DE L'ECOULEMENT DE CALOTTES GLACIAIRES
Author: ADELINE.. FABRE
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : fr
Pages : 350
Book Description
LE SYSTEME CLIMATIQUE TERRESTRE EST FORME DE PLUSIEURS COMPOSANTES QUI INTERAGISSENT ETROITEMENT (ATMOSPHERE, CALOTTES DE GLACE, OCEANS, LITHOSPHERE ET BIOSPHERE). LA MODELISATION NUMERIQUE PERMET D'ETUDIER CES INTERACTIONS. DANS CE TRAVAIL, L'ECOULEMENT DE PLUSIEURS CALOTTES GLACIAIRES EST MODELISE ET ON S'ATTACHE PARTICULIEREMENT A L'ETUDE DE LEURS INTERACTIONS AVEC L'ATMOSPHERE. CELLES-CI SONT DETERMINEES PAR L'ALTITUDE DE LA SURFACE DE LA CALOTTE, LES TEMPERATURES EN SURFACE ET L'ACCUMULATION. UN MODELE 3D D'ECOULEMENT DE CALOTTE GLACIAIRE, DEVELOPPE AU SEIN DE L'EQUIPE MODELISATION DU LGGE, EST PRESENTE. IL EST TESTE SUR UNE CALOTTE THEORIQUE DANS LE CADRE D'UN PROJET EUROPEEN D'INTERCOMPARAISON DE MODELES. IL EST ENSUITE APPLIQUE A LA CALOTTE DU GROENLAND, EN SIMULANT LA REPONSE DE LA CALOTTE SOUS DES CLIMATS DIFFERENTS DU CLIMAT ACTUEL ET EN ETUDIANT SON EVOLUTION AU COURS DU DERNIER CYCLE INTERGLACIAIRE-GLACIAIRE. LA SENSIBILITE DU MODELE A LA PARAMETRISATION DE L'ACCUMULATION EST MISE EN EVIDENCE. LE MODELE EST ENFIN APPLIQUE A LA RECONSTRUCTION DES CALOTTES DE GLACE PRESENTES DANS L'HEMISPHERE NORD (LAURENTIDE ET FENNOSCANDIE) AU DERNIER MAXIMUM GLACIAIRE (IL Y A ENVIRON 21 000 ANS). TROIS METHODES SONT UTILISEES POUR CALCULER LES CONDITIONS CLIMATIQUES EN ENTREE DU MODELE. DANS LES DEUX PREMIERES, CES CONDITIONS SONT DETERMINEES PAR UNE PARAMETRISATION CALIBREE SUR LES VALEURS ACTUELLES: LES RESULTATS AINSI OBTENUS NE SONT PAS SATISFAISANTS. LA TROISIEME METHODE UTILISE LES TEMPERATURES EN SURFACE ET LES PRECIPITATIONS ISSUES DE SIMULATIONS DU CLIMAT DU DERNIER MAXIMUM GLACIAIRE, REALISEES AVEC LE MODELE DE CIRCULATION GENERALE DE L'ATMOSPHERE DU LMD. LE COUPLAGE ENTRE LES DEUX MODELES NECESSITE UN TRAITEMENT DE DONNEES COMPLEXE, MAIS LES CALOTTES OBTENUES SONT EN MEILLEUR ACCORD AVEC LES DONNEES GEOLOGIQUES SUR L'EXTENSION ET L'EPAISSEUR DES CALOTTES A CETTE EPOQUE

Reindeer Hunters of the Ice Age in Europe
Author: Laure Fontana
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3031062590
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 263
Book Description
This book undertakes a thorough study of Reindeer in the Upper Pleniglacial and Tardiglacial societies in France. It addresses two main topics – the economy of animal resources within the societies and the exploitation of Reindeer organized within the annual cycle, in terms of space and time, between 30,000 and 14,000 cal BP in France. The author proposes an analysis and hypothesis regarding the economy of animal resources and the nomadic cycle of the last Paleolithic hunter-gatherer societies, in order to identify a “Reindeer system.” The author discusses the relationship between Reindeer and human mobility and offers some conclusions regarding the annual cycles of nomadism. The volume scrutinizes the distinct eco systems in three regions and its effects on the movements of both human and animal. This book is of interest to zooarchaeologists and prehistorians.

Climate and Geo-Sciences
Author: A.L. Berger
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9400924461
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 715
Book Description
It has been widely recognized recently that in order to make scientific progress on large and important problems (eg, carbon dioxide effects on climate, viability of various sites for nuclear waste disposal etc.), it is necessary to integrate knowledge from wide ranging sets of disciplines. This is certainly true in the climate sciences, for progress in understanding the cause of the ice ages or the effects of industrial pollution on the future climate or even the likelihood of severe climatic consequences in the aftermath of nuclear war. All require state-of -the -art input from many geoscience disci plines climatology, oceanography, meteorology, chemistry, ecology, glaciology, geology, astronomy, space technology, computer technology, mathematics etc. Major international meetings have called for interaction of such geo-science disciplines to solve real world problems. To move beyond the rhetorical level, the NATO Special Programme on Global Transport Mechanisms in the Geo-Sciences whose activities started in 1983, deci ded to organise his closing symposium on such a topic which focus on the relationship between climate and geo-sciences. This symposium was held at the end of May 1988 at the Universite Catholique de Louvain, Louvain-Ia-Neuve, Belgium. One hundred-and-thirty participants from the 16 NATO countries and a number of non-NATO countries assembled for the Symposium. Another feature was the attendance by special invitation of 16 pro mising young scientists who might well become leading scientists on climate and geo-sciences in their respective countries in the next century.

The Climate of Past Interglacials
Author: F. Sirocko
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0080468063
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 639
Book Description
Historically, climate fluctuations, such as the Little Ice Age, show that interglacial climate chage in not entirely stable, but responds to even subtle changes in radiative forcing. Through research, it has been made clear that even an abrupt change of climate within years is not just a theoretical possibility but has in fact happened in the prehistoric past. It is therefore clear that in principal it could happen again. Human civilaization has exploded under the mild and relatively stable climatic conditions that have prevailed over the last 11,000 years. This book focuses on revisiting the past and to study climate and environment in a suite of experiments where boundary conditions are similar but not identical to today so we can learn about the climate-environment system, its sensitivity, thresholds and feedback. The palaeoclimate community holds an important key to scientific information on climate change that provides a basis for appropriate adaptation and mitigation strategies. The authors of this book have taken up this challenge and summarize their results in this special volume. It presents state-of-the-art science on new reconstructions from all spheres of the Earth System and on their synthesis, on methodological advances, and on the current ability of numerical models to simulate low and high frequency changes of climate, environment, and chemical cycling related to interglacials.* Summarizes important information on climate change, providing a basis for appropriate adaptation and mitigation strategies for human civilization* Reports on new reconstuctions on methodological advances, numerical models simulating low and high frequence changes, and chemical cycling related to interglacials* Incorporates palaeovegetaion and numerical modeling of climate and environmental and geochemical parameters to address regional feedback to global change with successful data-models
