Law, Socialism and Democracy

Law, Socialism and Democracy PDF Author: Paul,Q,Hirst
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1135027226
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 178

Book Description
This book explores the political and legal institutions necessary for a democratic socialism in advanced industrial societies. It argues that a democratic socialist society needs a firm framework of public law, and a formal constitution. Populist conceptions of direct democracy and informal justice are argued to be inadequate as the primary means of democratic control in a complex society; likewise Marxist views of the "withering away of the state" are challenged as utopian. The book maintains that radical reforms in political institutions are necessary in order to effect social change.

Crimes of Democracy Versus Crimes of Communism

Crimes of Democracy Versus Crimes of Communism PDF Author: Karol Ondrias
Publisher: Trafford Publishing
ISBN: 1425121624
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 238

Book Description
The book presents data (112 graphs) from the real experiment of socialism versus capitalism in Slovakia, the former socialist countries and in the world. From the data it presents evidence of the crimes of democracy, which are several times higher than the crimes of communism. It discusses the rules of global capitalistic democracy leading to high inequality, modern democratic serfdom and the crimes of democracy, which are based on the rules of the capitalistic democracy coupled with unlimited private property. It describes the costs of the transition from socialism to capitalism, from "totalitarianism" to democracy across the whole region, highlights the dramatic and widespread deterioration of human rights and security, where democracy is killing people several times more efficiently than Stalin's execution guards. It presents evidence of the astonishing power of recent totalitarian neo-liberal capitalistic democracy. It presents evidence that policies of some democratically elected governments produced significantly more criminal military interventions, significantly more innocent deaths and committed more severe crimes against humanity than totalitarian communism. That it is not possible, under the recent democratic rules, to punish democratically elected governments for well-known crimes against humanity and violation of international law. Democracy in the capitalistic system cannot work and is not working properly because the recent democracy is based on unlimited private property. The freedom of expression is incompatible with unlimited private property. Capitalistic democracy means that the owners of the unlimited property have power to govern through the democratically elected representatives over democracy.

Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3030656438
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 191

Book Description
This book discusses socialism and democracy. It approaches socialism not as a label but as an ideology. Based on a careful examination of what socialism is, traced back to Karl Marx, this book explains the tense relationship between socialism and democracy and how it has influenced political thought and practice in both Europe and America. This book carefully avoids conventional wisdom, seeking instead to originate its definition and analysis of socialism in its political theory and practice. Building on the relationship between socialism and democracy, the book explores how this uneasy roommate agreement may affect America’s future.

American Democracy Versus Prussian Marxism a Study in the Nature and Results of Purposive or Beneficial Government

American Democracy Versus Prussian Marxism a Study in the Nature and Results of Purposive or Beneficial Government PDF Author: Clarence F. Birdseye

Category : Political Science

Pages : 384

Book Description
Excerpt from American Democracy Versus Prussian Marxism a Study in the Nature and Results of Purposive or Beneficial Government American Democracy, because it is a great living and growing organism, has a law of Life. That Life has its law of growth which determines the manner and extent of the growth and development of the living thing. These two laws can be understood and measured only as we study and understand how American Democracy has shown its life-giving force, and what were its antecedents, its purposes, its advantages and disadvantages, and what results its law of growth has wrought in and through that Democracy. This Life can be destroyed by disease or decay within, or by a greater force from without. Prussian Marxism has spread throughout the world. Therefore it, too, has its laws of Life and growth which must also be discovered and understood through its antecedents, purposes, surroundings, operations and results. The only way in which we can fully understand the fundamental differences between Democracy and Prussian Marxism or Socialism is to study and compare their laws of Life and growth, and their purposes and results when actually put into operation. We must also determine whether the growth of either of these forces implies the choking out of the life of the other.
