The ground at the base of the monument is graded thirty feet square, about a foot above the natural level, and inclosed by a heavy border of hammered Quincy granite. Gravel walks lead to the tablets, terminating in a circular gravelled space; the rest of the inclosure is turfed. The architect of the monument was Mr. B. F.
