Principles of Organometallic Chemistry

Principles of Organometallic Chemistry PDF Author: G. E. Coates
Publisher: Springer
ISBN:
Category : Juvenile Nonfiction
Languages : en
Pages : 284

Book Description
The second edition of Organometallic Compounds (1960) was used not only by specialists but also as an undergraduate textbook. The third edition, recently published in two volumes, is about three times the length of the second and contains considerably more factual material than is appropriate for a student textbook. Therefore we believe that a shorter treatment would be welcome. In planning this book the authors have emphasized matters more of prin ciple than of detail, and have included in the first two chapters some general discussion of the properties and syntheses of organometallic compounds that is not to be found in the larger work. Some aspects of the organic chemistry of arsenic, and of silicon with particular reference to silicone polymers, are also included. Most university teachers of chemistry are becoming seriously concerned about the relentless increase in the amount and complexity of the material that is squeezed into undergraduate chemistry courses. With this in mind the authors have tried to cut detail to a minimum, but readers will find that the relative amount presented varies considerably between the various topics discussed. In general the treatment is more extensive than usual only if either or both of these conditions are met: (1), the subject has significant bearing on other major branches of chemistry including im portant industrial processes; (2), the topic is commonly misunderstood or found to be confusing.

Organometallic Mechanisms and Catalysis

Organometallic Mechanisms and Catalysis PDF Author: Jay Kochi
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0323144101
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 642

Book Description
Organometallic Mechanisms and Catalysis: The Role of Reactive Intermediates in Organic Processes covers the mechanistic delineation of organometallic chemistry and catalysis. This book is organized into three parts encompassing 18 chapters. The first part describes first the oxidation-reduction process of organometals, followed by discussions on the catalytic reactions of peroxides, metal-catalyzed addition to olefins, and reduction of organic halides. This part also explores other reactions involving transition metal carbonyls and metal-catalyzed reactions of aromatic diazonium salts. The second part deals with some chemical aspects of organometals, such as their stability, thermochemistry, decomposition, hemolytic pathways, and the formation of carbon-carbon bonds. The third part examines the charge transfer processes and interactions of organometals with electron acceptors. This part further looks into the cleavage and insertion reactions of organometals with electrophiles, as well as the electrophilic and electron transfer mechanisms of organometals. Organic and inorganic chemists, teachers, and students will greatly benefit from this book.

Organometallic Compounds in the Environment

Organometallic Compounds in the Environment PDF Author: P. J. Craig
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 0470864885
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 434

Book Description
A knowledge of the chemical structure and concentration of organometal compounds throughout the ecosystem is important in working out the pathways and mechanisms by which metals distribute themselves throughout the environment. Treating the topic as an integrated subject area, the Second Edition of Organometallic Compounds in the Environment covers all the recent developments in analytical techniques and reports all the new work that has been achieved since the first book. Covers the general importance and characteristics of organometallic species. Includes general developments in analytical techniques. Discusses several minority elements including antimony and selenium. The book addresses the subject in a single, manageable size and each chapter can be used either as a single review or sequentially within the topic area. A useful resource for all researchers and scientists in industry working with organometallic compounds, including, chemists, environmentalists and ecologists.

Pyrolysis of Organic Molecules

Pyrolysis of Organic Molecules PDF Author: Serban C. Moldoveanu
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0080932150
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 737

Book Description
Pyrolysis of Organic Molecules with Applications to Health and Environmental Issues, the 28th volume in the Techniques and Instrumentation in Analytical Chemistry series, gives a systematic and comprehensive description of pyrolysis of non-polymeric organic molecules. Pyrolysis is involved in many practical applications as well as in many common human activities, but harmful compounds can be generated in the process. The study of pyrolysis and of the formation of undesirable compounds as a result of pyrolytic processes is of considerable interest to chemists, chemical engineers, and toxicologists. Pyrolysis results for compounds not previously studied or reported Updated information from a large body of results published on pyrolysis of individual compounds or classes of compounds Information on mechanisms and kinetics of numerous pyrolytic processes
