Book Description
Dark Valleys and Sunlit Mountains chronicles one couple's journey through numerous and diverse medical challenges encountered during the latter portion of a 31-year marriage. They took great pleasure in each other's company, extended families, friends; off-shore and domestic travel, summer cabin and boating. The marriage was good for both. Significant changes to her husband's diet following their 1982 marriage, improved his overall health status considerably. His decades-long history of petit mal seizures was well monitored and treated with prescription drugs, adjusted appropriately by board certified neurologists. Neither anticipated the events beginning with a seizure incident in May 2007, continuing into 2013. Life became one supreme medical challenge after another, each different; each with its own specific dark valley. Periods with minimal hope, no diagnosis, medical miracles or answers found. He recuperated from each (until 2013), slowly regaining strength, mobility and well-being. Each sunlit mountain recovery experience was savored. Plans commenced for more travel. A 2009 successful lliostomy procedure mitigated Gl bleeds, but left Ted unwilling to live, despite medical assurances. No carcinoma was present, but refusing to eat, he came home to die; the darkest valley of all. With no medical training, she became the sole 24(1 critical patient caregiver. Pray without ceasing, with thanksgiving, became the watchword. These trials served to greatly strengthen the wife's life-long trust and faith in God's promises. She discovered a depth of faith heretofore unknown, experienced or even thought possible; learning to trust on an entirely new plane, finding God's comforting peace amidst the depths of human despair. Promises of God's unfailing presence in our lives, never to leave or forsake us; to provide our every need sustained her. In late April 2010 Ted quietly declared for the first time, "It just came to me, looking out the window. I do believe in God."

ISBN: 9781891280306

Pages : 294

Book Description
A riveting reading experience, Though I Walk Through the Valley is the suspense-filled story of Julie Lerette's struggle with dark forces that threaten her and her family when they buy an old fixer-upper house. The evil the family encounters comes disguised in many forms. Julie learns first-hand to hold fast to the power of God's promises; trusting that He will lead those who call upon Him through their dark valleys and onto the sunlit mountains of His grace and triumph. Although the story is based on many true-life events, some literary license has been taken. (A video of this book is also available.)

Dark Valley ...and Beyond

Dark Valley ...and Beyond PDF Author: J. B. Lamann
Publisher: Xulon Press
ISBN: 1600349625
Category : Religion

Pages : 245

Book Description
DARK VALLEY .and Beyond is the story of a journey through traumatic grief. When the great love of her life was taken, deep grief was compounded by the testing of her faith. The very foundations of life seemed to be swept away. Yet the faithful Shepherd, though hidden for a time, held her through the storm, sent help when needed, and "restored her soul." This is a record of God's faithfulness "though I walk through the Valley of the shadow of death..." It is a record of pain and struggle leading to healing, hope and purpose. The author grew up in a small village nestled in a farming community. It was there, as a child, that she met God. After high-school she attended a Bible College where she came to know, respect, then to love a young man who also worshiped the Lord. She taught school for a short time, then they married and together raised four children. The relationship with her earthly love, shared for more than half a century, was recognized both by herself and others as uniquely precious, a gift from the very hand of God. When death tore them apart, grief struck like a tsunami; the storm of dark, excruciating anguish nearly destroyed her. But God, though for a time unseen in those shadows, held her close and brought her through-changed, still acutely aware of deep loss-but trusting the purpose of the Almighty, the deepest Love of her life.

The Great Zen Master Ta Hui

The Great Zen Master Ta Hui PDF Author: Osho
Publisher: Fivestar
ISBN:
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 431

Book Description
The great Zen teacher Ta Hui comes from the same lineage as Bodhidharma. He was born four hundred years after Bodhidharma had left for the Himalayas, to disappear into the eternal ice, the eternal silence there. I have called Ta Hui the great Zen teacher -- not a master ... it has to be explained to you clearly. The master is one who is enlightened. but sometimes it happens that the master may be enlightened, but is not articulate enough to give expression to what he has known. That is a totally different art.

The Flame Trees of Thika

The Flame Trees of Thika PDF Author: Elspeth Huxley
Publisher: Penguin
ISBN: 1101651393
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 288

Book Description
In an open cart Elspeth Huxley set off with her parents to travel to Thika in Kenya. As pioneering settlers, they built a house of grass, ate off a damask cloth spread over packing cases, and discovered—the hard way—the world of the African. With an extraordinary gift for detail and a keen sense of humor, Huxley recalls her childhood on the small farm at a time when Europeans waged their fortunes on a land that was as harsh as it was beautiful. For a young girl, it was a time of adventure and freedom, and Huxley paints an unforgettable portrait of growing up among the Masai and Kikuyu people, discovering both the beauty and the terrors of the jungle, and enduring the rugged realities of the pioneer life.
