Book Description
"The Environmental Studies Research Funds (ESRF) sponsored a technical report compiling information on technologies and performance data relative to the treatment and disposal of synthetic based mud (SBM) drill cuttings associated with offshore oil and gas drilling activities. This review focused mainly on Canadian Atlantic East Coast operations and drew upon experience acquired in the Gulf of Mexico, North Sea and elsewhere. After produced water, drill cuttings are the next largest discharge (by volume) into the marine environment from drilling activities, and are a key concern in all jurisdictions that support offshore oil and gas operations. Reviewing the period from 2002 to 2008, the study summarized various regulatory standards and guidelines around the world pertaining to synthetic based mud (SBM) cuttings disposal, updated the current state of cuttings treatment technology, assessed technology performance on Canada's East Coast and provided a summary of environmental effects monitoring from numerous jurisdictions."--from exec. summary

Book Description
This book proposes the use of waste from oil drilling and sugar cane bagasse ash in the production of ecologically friendly soil-cement bricks. It offers a viable alternative to the traditional bricks available on the market, which use wood as fuel: manufacturing bricks from waste is less costly and does not require the consumption of trees and forests. It also proposes an alternative to the current discharging of the above-mentioned types of waste in sanitary landfills, avoiding additional environmental problems.

Book Description
Gas Wettability of Reservoir Rock Surfaces with Porous Media compiles critical information on this complex topic, thus helping engineers more successfully face technical field challenges in oil and gas recovery. Combining both theoretical and practical knowledge, this concise reference bridges basic concepts with factors affecting gas wettability, also covering polymer-type gas wetting reversal agents in technical detail and discussing gas wettability’s influence on capillary force, oil-water distribution, and gas wettability’s application in petroleum engineering operations from both domestic and international projects. This book delivers the critical concepts, methods, mechanisms and practical technology needed for today’s complex oil and gas assets. Helps readers further develop and improve basic theory on petrophysics and reservoir engineering Covers various aspects, like the developmental history of gas wettability and the concept and evaluation of gas wettability of oil and gas reservoir rock surfaces Creates a bridge between theoretical knowledge and practical application, with content covering new theories, methodologies and the technologies used in drilling, completion and reservoir engineering

Book Description
This book provides the National Academy of Sciences' 1995 review of the technology development program for the remediation of the Department of Energy's weapons complex facilities. It makes scientific, technical, and programmatic recommendations to strengthen technology development within DOE and ensure that it meet its goals of cost effectiveness, safety, and decreased risk. The recommendations address DOE's five focus areas: landfill stabilization; contaminant plume containment and remediation; facility transitioning, decommissioning, and final disposition; mixed waste characterization treatment; and high-level waste in tanks. The book also addresses technologies in areas that cross cut the above focus area programs, namely characterization monitoring and sensor technologies, efficient separations and processing, robotics, and waste disposal.

Book Description
This report examines seven disposal technologies being considered by the U.S. government as alternative methods to the process of incineration for destroying mortars, rockets, land mines, and other weapons that contain chemical warfare agents, such as mustard gas. These weapons are considered especially dangerous because they contain both chemical warfare agent and explosive materials in an assembled package that must be disassembled for destruction. The study identifies the strengths and weaknesses and advantages and disadvantages of each technology and assesses their potential for full-scale implementation.
