Book Description
This study was carried out from July-September 2013 in order to analyse the current use of the European Credit system for Vocational Education and Training (ECVET) in the nuclear energy sector in the European Union Member States. ECVET aims to create a strong and efficient link between the Education and Training 2020 Strategy and the European Employment Strategy by facilitating processes for the validation, transfer and accumulation of learning outcomes into the corresponding practices. The scope of the study and its focus on the actual implementation required the design of a questionnaire, which was sent to the nuclear stakeholders in the EU-28 countries. The results presented in this report partially rely mainly on the responses to this survey, but also partially on the analysis of documents and web research. This report is identifying the extent of the ECVET implementation, the obstacles and favourable conditions it may face in the nuclear energy sector in the various European countries.

Languages : en
Pages : 73

Book Description
The main objective of this study is to give an overview of new initiatives and best practices developed during the last few years on the national level. As the development of nuclear E & T is primarily defined by the policies and national regulations for the nuclear sector, and only secondarily - through the general policies that apply to the high education (HE) and vocational education and training (VET) systems, main attention is given to the educational activities specific for the nuclear field. This report firstly focuses on the organisation of nuclear E & T in selected countries, investigating different types of institutions, programmes, qualifications, funding mechanisms and partnerships among academia, industry, labour market and social partners. Then the attention is given to the current status and further development of tools and instruments, that support the assessment, achievement and demonstration of personal and corporate competences in the nuclear sector. Finally there is a review of current trends in nuclear E & T and recommendations to maintain and develop the skills, competences and knowledge in nuclear and radiation safety in the EU. The data on which this study is based is taken from desk research and interviews with several experts.

Nuclear Education and Training

Nuclear Education and Training PDF Author: OECD Nuclear Energy Agency
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 208

Book Description
The OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) first published in 2000 Nuclear Education and Training: Cause for Concern?, which highlighted significant issues in the availability of human resources for the nuclear industry. Ten years on, Nuclear Education and Training: From Concern to Capability considers what has changed in that time and finds that, while some countries have taken positive actions, in a number of others human resources could soon be facing serious challenges in coping with existing and potential new nuclear facilities. This is exacerbated by the increasing rate of retirement as the workforce ages. This report provides a qualitative characterisation of human resource needs and appraises instruments and programmes in nuclear education and training initiated by various stakeholders in different countries. In this context, it also examines the current and future uses of nuclear research facilities for education and training purposes. Regarding the nuclear training component of workforce competence, it outlines a job taxonomy which could be a basis for addressing the needs of workers across this sector. It presents the taxonomy as a way of enhancing mutual recognition and increasing consistency of education and training for both developed and developing countries.

ISBN: 9400759371
Category : Education
Languages : en
Pages : 387

Book Description
Focusing on the Asia-Pacific region, which in recent years has been the engine of global economic growth , this volume surveys trends and prospects in technical and vocational education and training (TVET) with particular reference to achieving inclusive growth and the greening of economies. Underlying the increasing pressure for new models of TVET provision is the rapid pace of technological change, demand for a work force which is highly responsive to evolving needs and a transforming market place that calls for higher order skills and lifelong learning. The book proposes a re-engineered, modernized TVET system that fosters an innovative approach which enhances the employability of workers as well as the sustainability of their livelihoods. The book includes contributions from leading policy makers, researchers, and practitioners, including those in the private sector in analyzing and forecasting the most urgent priorities in skills development. The book argues for creative approaches to TVET design and delivery particularly with a view to improve job prospects , and meeting the goals of inclusion, sustainable development and social cohesion. Addressing issues such as the chronic mismatches between skills acquired and actual skills required in the work place, the volume proposes diversified approaches towards workforce development and partnerships with the private sector to improve the quality and relevance of skills development . The new imperatives created by ‘greening’ economies and responses required in skills development and training are addressed. Developing TVET is a high priority for governments in the Asia Pacific region as they seek to achieve long-term sustainable growth since the .continued success of their economic destinies depend on it. The volume also includes an emerging framework for skills development for inclusive and sustainable growth in the Asia and Pacific region.
