Between March and July 1988, R. Christopher Goodwin & Associates, Inc. conducted a cultural resources investigation of three levee and revetment construction rights-of-way located between River Miles 204.0 and 191.0 along the left descending bank of the Mississippi River in Iberville Parish, Louisiana. This project was sponsored by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District. Within the 13 mi project area, approximately 4.6 mi of batture were surveyed. Four previously unrecorded historic sites (16IV152, 16IV153, 16IV154, and 16IV155) and one previously recorded site (16IV142) were tested. This report describes the historic development of the project area from the initial settlement through the twentieth century, and it presents the methods and results of archeological survey and site testing. Based upon the field investigations and laboratory analyses, no additional testing is recommended for all of the tested sites. None of these sites is eligible for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places.
