This report presents results of Phase 1/11 archeological survey of the Baton Rouge Front Levee Enlargement and Concrete Slope Pavement project, East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana. This project was undertaken by R. Christopher Goodwin & Associates, Inc., for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, prior to planned enlargement of the levee. A total of approximately 60 ac were examined for cultural resources. Prior to fieldwork, preliminary historical research was undertaken to ascertain locations of historic structures within the project area. Fieldwork consisted of a bankline survey along the length of the project area, followed by excavation of 65 auger tests within one archeological site identified during the bankline survey, along with six additional high probability areas. During this testing, a total of five archeological sites were identified within the project area. These sites were delineated and tested through the excavation of 67 additional auger tests and ten 1 x 2 m (3.3 x 6.6 ft) excavation units. From upriver to downriver, these sites included the W.G. Coyle Company Coal Yard site (16EBR99), the previously recorded Site of Florida Street Wharf (16EBR58), the Burton Lumber Company site (16EBR98), the E.
