Winter Injection of 2,4-D and Tordon 101 for Hardwood Control

Winter Injection of 2,4-D and Tordon 101 for Hardwood Control PDF Author: W. Henry McNab
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid
Languages : en
Pages : 2

Book Description
During the winter of 1965-66, concentrates of Tordon 101 and 2,4-D amine were injected at 1-, 3-, and 5-inch intervals around the stems of southern red oak (Quercus falcata Michx.), sweetgum (Liquidambar styraciflua 1.), hickory (Carya spp.), and flowering dogwood (Cornus florida L.). Tordon 101 produced higher mortality than 2, 4-D amine in all species, although with hickory the difference may have occurred by chance. Tordon 101 killed over 90 percent of the red oaks and sweetgum at 5-inch spacing and more than 50 percent of the hickory and 40 percent of the dogwood at 3-inch spacing.

Tropical Community Tree Guide

Tropical Community Tree Guide PDF Author: Kelaine E. Vargas
Publisher: DIANE Publishing
ISBN: 1437925677
Category : Nature
Languages : en
Pages : 120

Book Description
Even as they increase the beauty of our surroundings, trees provide us with a great many ecosystem services, incl. air quality improvement, energy conservation, stormwater interception, and carbon dioxide reduction. These benefits must be weighed against the costs of maintaining trees, including planting, pruning, irrigation, admin., pest control, liability, cleanup, and removal. This report presents benefits and costs for representative small, medium, and large trees in the Tropical region based on research carried out in Honolulu, Hawaii. Average annual net benefits increase with tree size and differ based on location:. Two hypothetical examples of planting projects are described to illustrate how the data in this guide can be adapted to local uses.
