"Just 2 weeks ago today a Cuban aircraft (a Russian built AN-24) flew from Havana to New Orleans totally undetected, although a flight plan had been submitted to the Federal Aviation authorities and relayed to NORAD, State, FBI, and Customs. On the basis of records that we have assembled, it appears that the first inkling that either civilian or military officials had of the presence of the plane in the New Orleans area was when the pilot radioed the control tower at New Orleans Moisant International and requested landing instructions. At that time the Cuban aircraft was approximately 10 to 20 miles from the New Orleans airport. Just 2 years ago, an armed MIG-17 flew from Santa Clara, Cuba virtually undetected until it flew past the control tower at Homestead Air Force Base near Miami, Fla. At the time the MIG-17 landed at Homestead, the presidential aircraft, Air Force One, was on the field at Homestead"--Page 2
