Durante las??ltimas d??cadas, el debate de la relaci??n entre crecimiento econ??mico y el medio ambiente se ha intensificado a nivel te??rico y mediante aplicaciones emp??ricas en diversas partes del mundo. Este controversial tema ha implicado la generaci??n de diversas posturas y una de estas es la hip??tesis de la Curva de Kuznets Ambiental (CKA). Dicha hip??tesis, se??ala que el crecimiento en un inicio genera impactos negativos en el medio ambiente; pero en el largo plazo, una vez alcanzado cierto nivel de ingreso,??ste comienza a incidir positivamente en el medio ambiente. El tema planteado en este estudio es una aplicaci??n de distintos modelos econom??tricos para comprobar la existencia o no de la CKA para el caso de Am??rica Latina y el Caribe. Para ello, se realizaron regresiones no param??tricas, an??lisis de datos de panel, modelos de series de tiempo y regresiones aparentemente no relacionadas (SUR).
