La base 10 et le transcodage sont des notions complexes. En dépit d'apprentissages scolaires réguliers ou de capacités intellectuelles suffisantes certains enfants se retrouvent en grande difficulté dans ce domaine. L'orthophoniste pourra intervenir auprès de ces enfants en vue de favoriser la construction, la compréhension, la maîtrise, de la base 10 et du transcodage. L'émulation de la recherche actuelle dans le domaine de la dyscalculie et des troubles d'apprentissage en arithmétique et/ou logico-mathématiques incite à la création de nouveaux matériels. Encouragées par les professionnels, nous avons donc souhaité élaborer un matériel de rééducation orthophonique adapté à ces difficultés. Ce matériel a été prévu pour être utilisé avec des enfants âgés de 7 à 11 ans. Les activités que nous proposons s'appuient sur la manipulation, et cherchent à favoriser la représentation mentale afin d'aboutir à la symbolisation numérique. Ce matériel n'est pas une méthode de rééducation en soi, mais bien un support que l'orthophoniste peut moduler en fonction des besoins de chaque enfant.

La résolution de problèmes peut s'avérer être une activité qui angoisse certains enfants, surtout lorsqu'ils ont des troubles logico-mathématiques. Ces difficultés sont souvent source d'échec. L'objectif de cette étude est de vérifier si stimuler les prérequis logiques peut permettre d'améliorer leurs performances. Notre matériel consiste donc en un entraînement des structures logiques et a été testé auprès de sept enfants de CM1 ou CM2 suivis en orthophonie pour des difficultés logicomathématiques. Pour valider notre hypothèse, nous leur avons fait passer quatre problèmes avant et après l'entraînement. Ces problèmes ont également été soumis à cinq enfants tout-venant du même âge afin de vérifier leur accessibilité. Chaque problème étant proposé avec du matériel, nous avons également pu étudier si la manipulation était une aide à la résolution. L'analyse des résultats quantitatifs et qualitatifs nous permettra de vérifier ces deux hypothèses.
