Convolution Copula Econometrics

Convolution Copula Econometrics PDF Author: Umberto Cherubini
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319480154
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 99

Book Description
This book presents a novel approach to time series econometrics, which studies the behavior of nonlinear stochastic processes. This approach allows for an arbitrary dependence structure in the increments and provides a generalization with respect to the standard linear independent increments assumption of classical time series models. The book offers a solution to the problem of a general semiparametric approach, which is given by a concept called C-convolution (convolution of dependent variables), and the corresponding theory of convolution-based copulas. Intended for econometrics and statistics scholars with a special interest in time series analysis and copula functions (or other nonparametric approaches), the book is also useful for doctoral students with a basic knowledge of copula functions wanting to learn about the latest research developments in the field.

Dynamic Copula Methods in Finance

Dynamic Copula Methods in Finance PDF Author: Umberto Cherubini
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 1119954525
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 287

Book Description
The latest tools and techniques for pricing and risk management This book introduces readers to the use of copula functions to represent the dynamics of financial assets and risk factors, integrated temporal and cross-section applications. The first part of the book will briefly introduce the standard the theory of copula functions, before examining the link between copulas and Markov processes. It will then introduce new techniques to design Markov processes that are suited to represent the dynamics of market risk factors and their co-movement, providing techniques to both estimate and simulate such dynamics. The second part of the book will show readers how to apply these methods to the evaluation of pricing of multivariate derivative contracts in the equity and credit markets. It will then move on to explore the applications of joint temporal and cross-section aggregation to the problem of risk integration.

Market Risk Analysis, Practical Financial Econometrics

Market Risk Analysis, Practical Financial Econometrics PDF Author: Carol Alexander
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 0470998016
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 437

Book Description
Written by leading market risk academic, Professor Carol Alexander, Practical Financial Econometrics forms part two of the Market Risk Analysis four volume set. It introduces the econometric techniques that are commonly applied to finance with a critical and selective exposition, emphasising the areas of econometrics, such as GARCH, cointegration and copulas that are required for resolving problems in market risk analysis. The book covers material for a one-semester graduate course in applied financial econometrics in a very pedagogical fashion as each time a concept is introduced an empirical example is given, and whenever possible this is illustrated with an Excel spreadsheet. All together, the Market Risk Analysis four volume set illustrates virtually every concept or formula with a practical, numerical example or a longer, empirical case study. Across all four volumes there are approximately 300 numerical and empirical examples, 400 graphs and figures and 30 case studies many of which are contained in interactive Excel spreadsheets available from the the accompanying CD-ROM. Empirical examples and case studies specific to this volume include: Factor analysis with orthogonal regressions and using principal component factors; Estimation of symmetric and asymmetric, normal and Student t GARCH and E-GARCH parameters; Normal, Student t, Gumbel, Clayton, normal mixture copula densities, and simulations from these copulas with application to VaR and portfolio optimization; Principal component analysis of yield curves with applications to portfolio immunization and asset/liability management; Simulation of normal mixture and Markov switching GARCH returns; Cointegration based index tracking and pairs trading, with error correction and impulse response modelling; Markov switching regression models (Eviews code); GARCH term structure forecasting with volatility targeting; Non-linear quantile regressions with applications to hedging.

Copulae in Mathematical and Quantitative Finance

Copulae in Mathematical and Quantitative Finance PDF Author: Piotr Jaworski
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3642354076
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 299

Book Description
Copulas are mathematical objects that fully capture the dependence structure among random variables and hence offer great flexibility in building multivariate stochastic models. Since their introduction in the early 1950s, copulas have gained considerable popularity in several fields of applied mathematics, especially finance and insurance. Today, copulas represent a well-recognized tool for market and credit models, aggregation of risks, and portfolio selection. Historically, the Gaussian copula model has been one of the most common models in credit risk. However, the recent financial crisis has underlined its limitations and drawbacks. In fact, despite their simplicity, Gaussian copula models severely underestimate the risk of the occurrence of joint extreme events. Recent theoretical investigations have put new tools for detecting and estimating dependence and risk (like tail dependence, time-varying models, etc) in the spotlight. All such investigations need to be further developed and promoted, a goal this book pursues. The book includes surveys that provide an up-to-date account of essential aspects of copula models in quantitative finance, as well as the extended versions of talks selected from papers presented at the workshop in Cracow.

Econometrics and Risk Management

Econometrics and Risk Management PDF Author: Thomas B. Fomby
Publisher: Emerald Group Publishing
ISBN: 1848551975
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 302

Book Description
Covers credit risk and credit derivatives. This book offers several points of view on credit risk when looked at from the perspective of Econometrics and Financial Mathematics. Copula Modeling

Copula Modeling PDF Author: Pravin K. Trivedi
Publisher: Now Publishers Inc
ISBN: 1601980205
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 126

Book Description
Copula Modeling explores the copula approach for econometrics modeling of joint parametric distributions. Copula Modeling demonstrates that practical implementation and estimation is relatively straightforward despite the complexity of its theoretical foundations. An attractive feature of parametrically specific copulas is that estimation and inference are based on standard maximum likelihood procedures. Thus, copulas can be estimated using desktop econometric software. This offers a substantial advantage of copulas over recently proposed simulation-based approaches to joint modeling. Copulas are useful in a variety of modeling situations including financial markets, actuarial science, and microeconometrics modeling. Copula Modeling provides practitioners and scholars with a useful guide to copula modeling with a focus on estimation and misspecification. The authors cover important theoretical foundations. Throughout, the authors use Monte Carlo experiments and simulations to demonstrate copula properties

Heavy Tails and Copulas

Heavy Tails and Copulas PDF Author: Rustam Ibragimov
Publisher:
ISBN: 9789814689809
Category : BUSINESS & ECONOMICS
Languages : en
Pages : 303

Book Description
"This book offers a unified approach to the study of crises, large fluctuations, dependence and contagion effects in economics and finance. It covers important topics in statistical modeling and estimation, which combine the notions of copulas and heavy tails — two particularly valuable tools of today's research in economics, finance, econometrics and other fields — in order to provide a new way of thinking about such vital problems as diversification of risk and propagation of crises through financial markets due to contagion phenomena, among others. The aim is to arm today's economists with a toolbox suited for analyzing multivariate data with many outliers and with arbitrary dependence patterns. The methods and topics discussed and used in the book include, in particular, majorization theory, heavy-tailed distributions and copula functions — all applied to study robustness of economic, financial and statistical models, and estimation methods to heavy tails and dependence."--Publisher's website.
