La connaissance des valeurs des polarisabilités électriques des ions des atomes et des molécules est un problème que les recherches récentes tant expérimentales que théoriques n'ont pas encore résolu avec certitude, étant donné la complexité des intéractions. A plus forte raison il est difficile d’approcher les variations de ces grandeurs, compte-te nu de l'entourage de l'atome. Les variations des polarisabilités interviennent cependant dans de nombreuses théories physiques, notamment celle de la diffusion de la lumière (spectre de Raman). Nous avons donc mis au point, dans une première partie, une nouvelle méthode de calcul des polarisabilités des ions monoatomiques et des atomes, qui a été confrontée avec les valeurs expérimentales et théoriques des différents auteurs. Une seconde partie est consacrée à la mise au point d'une méthode variationnelle permettant d'aborder le calcul des modifications de polarisabilités avec les déformations. La méthode indiquée a été essayée dans le cas simple de l'ion lithium . Ce travail nous a permis d'étudier en même temps les variations de l'écran électrostatique, de l'énergie de compression, du rayon ionique et du comportement électronique en fonction des déformations. La détermination des polarisabilités se fait par un calcul variationnel utilisant la forme approchée des fonctions d'onde de l'état excité proposée dans un travail antérieur de BARRIOL et REGNIER. L'approximation est étendue et l'on est conduit à modifier légèrement les valeurs du nombre atomique apparent qui intervient dans la forme de SLATER des orbitales atomiques de départ. La déformation du nuage électronique est étudiée par l'introduction d'une barrière de potentiel à l'aide de la fonction de FERMI. L'ensemble des résultats obtenus semble très cohérent et confirme ainsi la validité de la méthode.
