Dynamics of Explosions

Dynamics of Explosions PDF Author: J. Raymond Bowen
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 694

Book Description
Dynamics of Explosions (Volume 106) primarily concerns the interrelationship between the rate processes of energy deposition in a compressible medium and the concurrent nonsteady flow as it typically occurs in explosion phenomena. Dynamics of reactive Systems (Volume 105--AD-A173 108) spans a broader area, encompassing the processes coupling the dynamics of fluid flow and molecular transformations in reactive media, and occurring in any combustion system. Major topics in this volume include: Flame acceleration and transition to detonation; Initiation and transmission of detonations; Detonation structure and limit propagation; Detonation kinetics, structure, and boundary effects; Explosions, shock reflections, and blast waves; Heterogeneous detonations and explosions; and Condensed phase shocks and detonations.

Dynamics of Combustion Systems

Dynamics of Combustion Systems PDF Author: A. K. Oppenheim
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3540773649
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 374

Book Description
The Dynamics of Combustion Systems are presented in three parts in this book. Together they provide a step towards the automatic control of explosions. The exothermic character of combustion systems, their fluid dynamic features, and explosive nature, are covered by this work which also provides a technical monograph for readers with some background in combustion technology. The book is likely to appeal to graduate students, and researchers in academia and industry.

Advances in Combustion Science

Advances in Combustion Science PDF Author: W. A. Sirignano
Publisher: AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics & Astronautics)
ISBN:
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 394

Book Description
Authored by some of the most prestigious international researchers, this book contains 21 papers that address five general categories of combustion science: flame theory, heterogeneous combustion, unsteady and cellular combustion, turbulent combustion, and explosions and detonations. The book is dedicated to Yakov B. Zel'dovich, an eminent researcher known for his theoretical works on combustion and detonation, who served as the first chairman of the Scientific Council of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. The first five papers give an important perspective of the developments in flame theory, and the critical role that Zel'dovich played in them. The second section examines the issues of heterogeneous combustion and the recent advances in the field. Material dealing with unsteady cellular combustion is addressed in the third section, and the fourth investigates turbulent combustion. The final section treats the subjects of detonations and explosions.

Blast Effects

Blast Effects PDF Author: Isabelle Sochet
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319708317
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 199

Book Description
This book compiles a variety of experimental data on blast waves. The book begins with an introductory chapter and proceeds to the topic of blast wave phenomenology, with a discussion on Rankine-Hugoniot equations and the Friedlander equation, used to describe the pressure-time history of a blast wave. Additional topics include arrival time measurement, the initiation of detonation by exploding wires, a discussion of TNT equivalency, and small scale experiments. Gaseous and high explosive detonations are covered as well. The topics and experiments covered were chosen based on the comparison of used scale sizes, from small to large. Each characteristic parameter of blast waves is analyzed and expressed versus scaled distance in terms of energy and mass. Finally, the appendix compiles a number of polynomial laws that will prove indispensable for engineers and researchers.
