Globalization has led to growing labour fragmentation and widening of gaps in social protection. Although the enterprise is increasingly expected to be socially responsible, in actuality extreme worker inequalities and social dumping have become ubiquitous worldwide. This volume – the first to focus attention on the ‘theory of the firm’ as it reveals itself in today’s world from a multidisciplinary perspective – underscores the necessity to rebuild a new scientifically controlled paradigm that acknowledges and regulates the dimension of power in the functioning of the organization. Lo scopo di questa tesi1 è fornire un quadro dettagliato dello sviluppo dei contratti di rete in Lombardia. Verranno quindi analizzate, da un punto di vista qualitativo e quantitativo, le caratteristiche delle imprese lombarde coinvolte e quelle relative ai contratti che ne contano almeno una tra i membri, utilizzando strumenti di statistica descrittiva e di econometria e presentando, accanto alle analisi più classiche, anche altre completamente inedite. Verrà inoltre data una "prima" valutazione dell'efficacia di questo strumento in termini di prestazioni aziendali, "prima" in quanto la natura molto recente e ancora in evoluzione di questo fenomeno ne impedisce una valutazione stabile e completa. La rilevanza di questa nuova forma di collaborazione è data dalla sua grande duttilità, particolarmente adatta al panorama italiano in quanto costituito prevalentemente da piccole e medie imprese, poco propense e poco incentivate alla crescita, che si trovano ad affrontare un contesto di crisi economica e di globalizzazione, con il conseguente aumento della dimensione dei mercati e del numero di concorrenti. Queste possono sfruttare lo strumento del contratto di rete per accrescere la propria competitività, fare innovazione ed estendere le proprie vendite all'estero senza perdere la propria individualità e la flessibilità tipica della piccola dimensione.
