Elastic Media with Microstructure II

Elastic Media with Microstructure II PDF Author: I. A. Kunin
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3642819605
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 279

Book Description
Crystals and polycrystals, composites and polymers, grids and multibar systems can be considered as examples of media with microstructure. A characteristic feature of all such models is the existence of scale parameters which are con nected with microgeometry or long-range interacting forces. As a result the cor responding theory must essentially be a nonlocal one. This treatment provides a systematic investigation of the effects of micro structure, inner degrees of freedom and non locality in elastic media. The prop agation of linear and nonlinear waves in dispersive media, static, deterministic and stochastic problems, and the theory of local defects and dislocations are considered in detail. Especial attention is paid to approximate models and lim iting transitions to classical elasticity. The book forms the second part of a revised and updated edition of the author's monograph published under the same title in Russian in 1975. The first part (Vol. 26 of Springer Series in Solid-State Sciences) presents a self contained theory of one-dimensional models. The theory of three-dimensional models is considered in this volume. I would like to thank E. Kroner and A. Seeger for supporting the idea of an English edition of my original Russian book. I am also grateful to E. Borie, H. Lotsch and H. Zorski who read the manuscript and offered many sugges tions. Houston, Texas Isaak A. Kunin January, 1983 Contents 1. Introduction ...

Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 692

Book Description
The ten-volume set LNCS 12949 – 12958 constitutes the proceedings of the 21st International Conference on Computational Science and Its Applications, ICCSA 2021, which was held in Cagliari, Italy, during September 13 – 16, 2021. The event was organized in a hybrid mode due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The 466 full and 18 short papers presented in these proceedings were carefully reviewed and selected from 1588 submissions. The books cover such topics as multicore architectures, mobile and wireless security, sensor networks, open source software, collaborative and social computing systems and tools, cryptography, human computer interaction, software design engineering, and others. Part I of the set follows two general tracks: computational methods, algorithms, and scientific applications; high performance computing and networks.

Advances in Composite Materials

Advances in Composite Materials PDF Author: Pavla Tesinova
Publisher: BoD – Books on Demand
ISBN: 9533074493
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 588

Book Description
Composites are made up of constituent materials with high engineering potential. This potential is wide as wide is the variation of materials and structure constructions when new updates are invented every day. Technological advances in composite field are included in the equipment surrounding us daily; our lives are becoming safer, hand in hand with economical and ecological advantages. This book collects original studies concerning composite materials, their properties and testing from various points of view. Chapters are divided into groups according to their main aim. Material properties are described in innovative way either for standard components as glass, epoxy, carbon, etc. or biomaterials and natural sources materials as ramie, bone, wood, etc. Manufacturing processes are represented by moulding methods; lamination process includes monitoring during process. Innovative testing procedures are described in electrochemistry, pulse velocity, fracture toughness in macro-micro mechanical behaviour and more.

Potential Method in Mathematical Theories of Multi-Porosity Media

Potential Method in Mathematical Theories of Multi-Porosity Media PDF Author: Merab Svanadze
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3030280225
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 313

Book Description
This monograph explores the application of the potential method to three-dimensional problems of the mathematical theories of elasticity and thermoelasticity for multi-porosity materials. These models offer several new possibilities for the study of important problems in engineering and mechanics involving multi-porosity materials, including geological materials (e.g., oil, gas, and geothermal reservoirs); manufactured porous materials (e.g., ceramics and pressed powders); and biomaterials (e.g., bone and the human brain). Proceeding from basic to more advanced material, the first part of the book begins with fundamental solutions in elasticity, followed by Galerkin-type solutions and Green’s formulae in elasticity and problems of steady vibrations, quasi-static, and pseudo-oscillations for multi-porosity materials. The next part follows a similar format for thermoelasticity, concluding with a chapter on problems of heat conduction for rigid bodies. The final chapter then presents a number of open research problems to which the results presented here can be applied. All results discussed by the author have not been published previously and offer new insights into these models. Potential Method in Mathematical Theories of Multi-Porosity Media will be a valuable resource for applied mathematicians, mechanical, civil, and aerospace engineers, and researchers studying continuum mechanics. Readers should be knowledgeable in classical theories of elasticity and thermoelasticity.
