The purpose of the present study was to determine consumer perceptions of apparel products in Internet shopping. According to the existing literature, four categories of perceptions play primary roles for apparel shopping consumer decisions: apparel appearance, apparel comfort, fabric characteristics, and apparel fit. The present study aimed to observe how consumers examine apparel products and focused on the role of consumers' apparel product perceptions in making their purchase decisions within an Internet shopping environment. Research methods resulting in qualitative data were utilized to observe how consumers navigate Web sites and search for the information needed to make purchase decisions. Participants were asked to access their favorite apparel Web site and go through their decision making process for selecting one apparel item to purchase. Observations were made regarding navigation patterns. Participants were also asked about specific product perceptions. Interviews were conducted with 26 female participants and lasted from 30 minutes to 1 hour. All interviews were audio-recorded and transcribed. Emergent themes from the interviews were identified and factors related to consumers' decision making processes were outlined. The results of the study showed how participants shopped for apparel products on the Web site using certain information. First, participants mentioned both positive and negative perceptions with Internet apparel shopping in general. Second, participants preferred certain Web sites based on their Internet shopping motivations. Third, based on Web site navigational patterns, five types of Internet apparel shoppers were identified: category shopper, bargain shopper, trend seeker, brand shopper, and visual shopper. Fourth, perceptions of apparel product value and quality were based on specific perceptions of image, comfort, fabric characteristics, and fit. The factors in each of these categories were examined and evaluated in relation to their importance in consumers' purchase decisions. Lastly, additional factors were used by participants in Internet apparel shopping decision making including: price, country of origin, shipping and handling fees, and return policies. The results of this study further our understanding of consumer behavior of the apparel products in the Internet environment and can provide needed information to Internet apparel retailers as they strive to create effective and useful Internet shopping environments.

The aim of this study was to examine the adoption of online shopping and online shopping for clothing in particular and factors influencing the intention to purchase clothing online. A quantitative research method was used and a questionnaire designed on the website www.surveymonkey.com and then distributed by sending out the link leading to the survey via facebook and emails. 94 useful questionnaires were gathered from female and male UK students. SPSS 17 was used to analyse the collected data by conducting chi-square tests and Spearman's rho correlation tests to examine the relation between different variables. The constructs of the technology acceptance model (TAM) were used as a framework and basis for this research and were extended by further constructs. Therefore, the impact of perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, prior online shopping experience, perceived risk and product involvement on the intention to purchase clothing online was analysed. Perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and prior online shopping experience had positive effects on the intention to purchase clothing online. Perceived risk had a negative effect on the intention to purchase clothing online. These findings supported the hypotheses. Other than hypothesised, clothing product involvement did not have a significant positive effect on the intention to purchase clothing online.

The aim of this research is to explore the level of awareness consumers have regarding fast fashion. Additionally, it intends to explore what the term “Fast fashion” means to young Irish consumers. Furthermore, this research aims to provide information on consumer perceptions of fashion retailers. Moreover, the research also intends to highlight whether those perceptions play a role in the buyer decision process. The key findings suggest that consumers fail to associate the ethical and environmental concerns that are synonymous with the fast fashion industry. Moreover, the research also exposed a failure that there is a disconnect between the term fast fashion and the manufacturing methods. Fast fashion and sweatshop labour are not mutually exclusive terms yet fast fashion as a term does not seem to carry the burden of its manufacturing origin. It was found that consumers have intentions of shopping more ethically and sustainably. However, there appears to be several misconceptions in what is currently considered ethical fashion among consumers which would affect the consumers ability to make an informed purchase decision. Cognitive dissonance being the act of consumers distancing themselves from purchase decisions that contradict their morals to avoid the feeling of discomfort was evident in this study. This research also found that the practice of greenwashing was present in fast fashion retailers advertising which does not portray the true environmental and social impacts of a product to the consumer.

Shopping for fashion products through subscription services is a new phenomenon in apparel retail. While subscription services are growing at a fast rate and generating awareness among consumers, little research has examined the reasons behind this online retail model. Using qualitative data, this study examined the shopping motivations of consumers enrolled in online fashion subscription companies. Fourteen subscribers from 11 different apparel, accessories and beauty-related subscription companies were interviewed. The transcribed interview data was analyzed using the NVIVO software. ☐ Findings showed that the benefits received from the subscriptions relate to both utilitarian and hedonic shopping motivations. Hedonic shopping motivations, as noted in the literature (e.g., adventure, gratification, social, perceived value, and idea), were related to consumers' subscription service experience. In addition, the study found style experimentation and wardrobe compatibility were two emerging motives to enroll in subscription services. For apparel subscription services with personal stylists, most participants emphasized the key role of a stylist/curator in delivering the value proposition of online subscription retail. Based on the findings, an inductive model was developed to explain the motivational constructs of apparel retail subscription and the facilitating role of the stylist/curator as the influencer. The stylist/curator and box delivery structure add value to the subscription experience and transforms the consumers' subscription shopping experience.

The investigation of these relationships were done through five different retail channels- Internet shopping, Catalogue shopping, Television shopping, Local retail stores and Organized retail stores. Method - This paper analyses primary data collected through a structured questionnaire from one hundred eighty three graduate and post graduate students of western region of Gujarat (Kutchh). Findings - Consumer who perceived a certain retail channel more useful for product information search searched for product information more frequently via that retail channel and purchased products more often via that retail channel. Consumers who were more satisfied with apparel purchase from a retail channel purchased the product more frequently via that retail channel. Value/Originality - This study shows a holistic view of the multi-channel context in terms of the information search and product purchase behaviour for apparel products. The present study provides an understanding of college-aged consumers' search and purchase behaviours for apparel products. The current study provides managerial implications for the apparel industry. As the majority of college-aged consumers have multi-channel shopping experiences, the apparel retail industry needs to understand this younger consumer market's characteristics and its channel usages to enhance their multi-channel retail strategies.

The questionnaire prepared by using Likert’s five-point scale ranging from (1-5) where 1 Means ‘not at all important and 5 Means ‘most important ‘.The research has taken use of closed ended questions. The data collection was done over a period of 8 weeks this was done by going directly to the respondents or through mails. A total number of respondents taken for this study are 154. The collected data is analyzed in statistical method of factor analysis in the IBM SPSS 20.0 software. The data collected on 30 variables was deducted into five factors in the software and analyzed accordingly. The survey revealed that different customers have different perception towards online shopping; most of them having a very good attitude towards online shopping but there are certain customer who still find difficulties or we can say apart from several benefits has some disadvantage in mind of customer. Customer perception keeps on changing with time to time which is to be taken in the consideration.The most important factors that can be taken into account to understand the Internet shopping (Customer Service, Convenience, Experience, Value added service and Product related information).
