Computer-Aided Inspection Planning

Computer-Aided Inspection Planning PDF Author: Abdulrahman Al-Ahmari
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1351722344
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 292

Book Description
The inspection process is one of the most important steps in manufacturing industries because it safeguards high quality products and customer satisfaction. Manual inspection may not provide the desired accuracy. This book introduces and implements a new methodology and develops the supporting technologies for automated inspection planning based on Computer Aided Design (CAD) models. It also provides and implements an efficient link for automated operation based on Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM). The link’s output is a DMIS code programming file based on the inspection planning table that is executed on CMM.

Computer-Aided Cmm Inspection Planning and Verification

Computer-Aided Cmm Inspection Planning and Verification PDF Author: Anis Limaiem
Publisher: LAP Lambert Academic Publishing
ISBN: 9783845402321

Languages : en
Pages : 192

Book Description
Inspection planning and verification procedures are central activities in any inspection using Coordinates Measuring Machines (CMMs). The objective of tactile CMM inspection planning is to establish the best sequence of inspection steps with a detailed inspection procedure for each inspection feature or cluster of measurement points. Algorithms are then used to interpolate these points and generate their mathematical model(s). Complex surfaces may need to be decomposed into several patches which are interpolated separately then joined in a single model by determining their intersections. These models (curves and surfaces) are then used by tolerance analysis algorithms to verify if tolerance specifications are met by comparing the interpolated model representing the actual surface and the CAD model representing the theoretical surface.

Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing

Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing PDF Author: U. Rembold
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3642827489
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 469

Book Description
Manufacturing contributes to over 60 % of the gross national product of the highly industrialized nations of Europe. The advances in mechanization and automation in manufacturing of international competitors are seriously challenging the market position of the European countries in different areas. Thus it becomes necessary to increase significantly the productivity of European industry. This has prompted many governments to support the development of new automation resources. Good engineers are also needed to develop the required automation tools and to apply these to manufacturing. It is the purpose ofthis book to discuss new research results in manufacturing with engineers who face the challenge of building tomor row's factories. Early automation efforts were centered around mechanical gear-and-cam technology and hardwired electrical control circuits. Because of the decreasing life cycle of most new products and the enormous model diversification, factories cannot be automated efficiently any more by these conventional technologies. With the digital computer, its fast calculation speed and large memory capacity, a new tool was created which can substantially improve the productivity of manufactur ing processes. The computer can directly control production and quality assurance functions and adapt itself quickly to changing customer orders and new products.
