Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 9813239344
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 388

Book Description
This book presents the computational methods for solving the solid mechanic problems in the oil well perforator design. Both Lagrangian and Eulerian methods are used to solve the pertinent stress-strain equations and the shock wave running through the materials. Seven good performance oil well perforators and two conical shaped charges for defeating the reactive armor are included in this book as references. The computer programs written in Fortran for the calculation of high explosive burn time and burn distance, shear modulus and yield strength for many materials, as well as MATLAB plotting programs for many perforators are available online as supplementary materials for the book.

Computer Simulation Of Shaped Charge Problems

Computer Simulation Of Shaped Charge Problems PDF Author: Wen Ho Lee
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 9814478865
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 396

Book Description
Devoted to the subject of shape charge design using numerical methods, this book offers the defense and commercial industries unique material not contained in any other single volume. The coverage of the Lagrangian and Eulerian methods as well as the equation of state provides first hand help to engineers working on shape charge problems. The book includes detailed descriptions of oil-well perforation not available from any other sources and, coupled with the material flow physics discussed in Chapters 2 and 3 and Appendix B, readers can design the fuel rod configurations for a nuclear reactor core. The equations of state and the constitutive models in Chapter 8 are among the best material models currently available.

Well Completion Design

Well Completion Design PDF Author: Jonathan Bellarby
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0080932525
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 726

Book Description
Completions are the conduit between hydrocarbon reservoirs and surface facilities. They are a fundamental part of any hydrocarbon field development project. The have to be designed for safely maximising the hydrocarbon recovery from the well and may have to last for many years under ever changing conditions. Issues include: connection with the reservoir rock, avoiding sand production, selecting the correct interval, pumps and other forms of artificial lift, safety and integrity, equipment selection and installation and future well interventions. - Course book based on course well completion design by TRACS International - Unique in its field: Coverage of offshore, subsea, and landbased completions in all of the major hydrocarbon basins of the world - Full colour

Sand Control in Well Construction and Operation

Sand Control in Well Construction and Operation PDF Author: Davorin Matanovic
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3642256147
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 205

Book Description
Produced sand causes a lot of problems. From that reasons sand production must be monitored and kept within acceptable limits. Sand control problems in wells result from improper completion techniques or changes in reservoir properties. The idea is to provide support to the formation to prevent movement under stresses resulting from fluid flow from reservoir to well bore. That means that sand control often result with reduced well production. Control of sand production is achieved by: reducing drag forces (the cheapest and most effective method), mechanical sand bridging (screens, gravel packs) and increasing of formation strength (chemical consolidation). For open hole completions or with un-cemented slotted liners/screens sand failure will occur and must be predicted. Main problem is plugging. To combat well failures due to plugging and sand breakthrough Water-Packing or Shunt-Packing are used.

Jet Cutting Technology

Jet Cutting Technology PDF Author: A. Lichtarowicz
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 940112678X
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 621

Book Description
This volume contains papers presented at the 11th International Conference on Jet Cutting Technology, held at St. Andrews, Scotland, on 8-10 September 1992. Jetting techniques have been successfully applied for many years in the field of cleaning and descaling. Today, however, jet cutting is used in operations as diverse as removing cancerous growths from the human body, decommissioning sunsea installations and disabling explosive munitions. The diversity is reflected in the papers presented at the conference. The papers were divided into several main sections: jetting basics -- materials; jetting basics -- fluid mechanics; mining and quarrying; civil engineering; new developments; petrochem; cleaning and surface treatment; and manufacturing. The high quality of papers presented at the conference has further reinforced its position as the premier event in the field. The volume will be of interest to researchers, developers and manufacturers of systems, equipment users and contractors.

Learning to Think Spatially

Learning to Think Spatially PDF Author: National Research Council
Publisher: National Academies Press
ISBN: 0309092086
Category : Education
Languages : en
Pages : 333

Book Description
Learning to Think Spatially examines how spatial thinking might be incorporated into existing standards-based instruction across the school curriculum. Spatial thinking must be recognized as a fundamental part of Kâ€"12 education and as an integrator and a facilitator for problem solving across the curriculum. With advances in computing technologies and the increasing availability of geospatial data, spatial thinking will play a significant role in the information-based economy of the twenty-first century. Using appropriately designed support systems tailored to the Kâ€"12 context, spatial thinking can be taught formally to all students. A geographic information system (GIS) offers one example of a high-technology support system that can enable students and teachers to practice and apply spatial thinking in many areas of the curriculum.
