Book Description
This book gathers the outcomes of the 6th ACIS International Conference on Computational Science/Intelligence & Applied Informatics (CSII 2019), which was held on May 29–31, 2019 in Honolulu, Hawaii. The aim of the conference was to bring together researchers and scientists, businesspeople and entrepreneurs, teachers, engineers, computer users, and students to discuss the various fields of computer science and to share their experiences and exchange new ideas and information in a meaningful way. Further, they presented research results on all aspects (theory, applications and tools) of computer and information science, and discussed the practical challenges encountered in their work and the solutions they adopted to overcome them. The book highlights the best papers from those accepted for presentation at the conference. They were chosen based on review scores submitted by members of the program committee and underwent further rigorous rounds of review. From this second round, 15 of the conference’s most promising papers were selected for this Springer (SCI) book and not the conference proceedings. We eagerly await the important contributions that we know these authors will make to the field of computer and information science.

Book Description
This book presents the outcomes of the 5th ACIS International Conference on Computational Science/Intelligence & Applied Informatics (CSII 2018), which was held on July 10–12, 2018 in Yonago, Japan. The aim of the conference was to bring together researchers and scientists, businesspeople and entrepreneurs, teachers, engineers, computer users, and students to discuss the various fields of computer science, to share their experiences, and to exchange new ideas and information in a meaningful way. All aspects (theory, applications and tools) of computer and information science, the practical challenges encountered along the way, and the solutions adopted to solve them are all explored here. The conference organizers selected the best papers from among those accepted for presentation. The papers were chosen on the basis of review scores submitted by members of the program committee and subsequently underwent further rigorous review. Following this second round of review, 13 of the conference’s most promising papers were selected for this Springer (SCI) book. We eagerly await the important contributions that we know these authors will make to the field of computer and information science.

Insight into Theoretical and Applied Informatics

Insight into Theoretical and Applied Informatics PDF Author: Andrzej Yatsko
Publisher: Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG
ISBN: 311046988X
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 122

Book Description
The book is addressed to young people interested in computer technologies and computer science. The objective of this book is to provide the reader with all the necessary elements to get him or her started in the modern field of informatics and to allow him or her to become aware of the relationship between key areas of computer science. The book is addressed not only to future software developers, but also to all who are interested in computing in a widely understood sense. The authors also expect that some computer professionals will want to review this book to lift themselves above the daily grind and to embrace the excellence of the whole field of computer science. Unlike existing books, this one bypasses issues concerning the construction of computers and focuses only on information processing. Recognizing the importance of the human factor in information processing, the authors intend to present the theoretical foundations of computer science, software development rules, and some business aspects of informatics in non-technocratic, humanistic terms.

Computational Intelligence and Pattern Analysis in Biology Informatics

Computational Intelligence and Pattern Analysis in Biology Informatics PDF Author: Ujjwal Maulik
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 1118097807
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 552

Book Description
An invaluable tool in Bioinformatics, this unique volume provides both theoretical and experimental results, and describes basic principles of computational intelligence and pattern analysis while deepening the reader's understanding of the ways in which these principles can be used for analyzing biological data in an efficient manner. This book synthesizes current research in the integration of computational intelligence and pattern analysis techniques, either individually or in a hybridized manner. The purpose is to analyze biological data and enable extraction of more meaningful information and insight from it. Biological data for analysis include sequence data, secondary and tertiary structure data, and microarray data. These data types are complex and advanced methods are required, including the use of domain-specific knowledge for reducing search space, dealing with uncertainty, partial truth and imprecision, efficient linear and/or sub-linear scalability, incremental approaches to knowledge discovery, and increased level and intelligence of interactivity with human experts and decision makers Chapters authored by leading researchers in CI in biology informatics. Covers highly relevant topics: rational drug design; analysis of microRNAs and their involvement in human diseases. Supplementary material included: program code and relevant data sets correspond to chapters.
