The objectives of the conference were: (1) To lay a sounder foundation for generalizations of predictive methods in turbulent boundary layers. (2) To provide a more complete and consistent set of data. (3) To compare predictions from as many current methods as possible with data. Volume I contains output from 28 methods and descriptions of 25; the remaining 3 are well known older methods which are given for comparison. It also contains: discussions on experiments needed for further advances, the morphology of the theories, an evaluation report, reports on various questions by ad hoc subcommittees, digests of two questionaires, a summary by the editors, several papers and summaries on boundary layer physics, a number of more formal comments peering into the future and the gist of the discussions.
