This reference paper consists of a one year (1983) analysis of carload and Intermodal Service revenue freight traffic originating on CN or CP in Canada and terminating in the United States and traffic orginating in the United States and terminating on CN or CP in Canada. It also includes import and export traffic from Canadian and American ports (i.e. to or from countries other than Canada or the United States). The data approximates 78% of the total revenue tonnage on all classes of railways for all types of traffic moving from Canada to the United States and 74% of the total revenue tonnage on all classes of railways for all types of traffic moving from the Unitid States to Canada. (Overhead traffic has been excluded).
