Taken together, this provides a unique holistic guide to the science, technology and practical techniques of coatings for plastics. Covers all aspects of plastics coating, from pre-preparation of surfaces to the selection and formulation of coatings. A practical guide for the scientists, engineers and technicians involved in designing with coated plastics, formulation of coatings, and the application of coatings. Covers the latest technological developments, in particular the high-performance demands of the automotive industry, where an increasing range of parts are being made from plastic.

Fluidized-bed Coating with Plastics

Fluidized-bed Coating with Plastics PDF Author: Plastics Technical Evaluation Center (U.S.)
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Corrosion resistant materials
Languages : en
Pages : 254

Book Description
This report on the relatively new field of fluidized-bed coating with plastics is intended to give military agencies and contractors a good idea of the possibilities and limitations of the technique. In the normal use of the process a metal part is heated to a temperature somewhat higher than the melting point of the resin powder with which it is to be coated. Upon immersion of the preheated metal part into a bed or bath of resin powder, usually kept at room temperature and fluidized by a current of air, the powder particles are fused onto the surface of the part. Postheating may or may not be necessary to smooth and/or cure the coating. This report has detailed information on 139 references, including 39 foreign and American patents. (Author).

Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3030990834
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 718

Book Description
This book discusses the diverse array of particles that are found in coatings from both a physical and a performance standpoint. It also describes the fundamentals of particle behavior and shows how these affect the performance and properties of their end-use applications. It consists of nineteen chapters, demonstrating the wide range of types of particles found in coatings as well as the diversity of the important attributes they hold. The authors also present a forward looking view of current issues and trends in the coatings industry. In addition, a chapter on the use of particles in paper laminate, a closely aligned field, is included. This book is of interest to formulators of any type of coatings as well as researchers in aligned fields that use high volumes of small particles, such as the plastics and paper industries.

Service Life Prediction of Polymers and Coatings

Service Life Prediction of Polymers and Coatings PDF Author: Christopher White
Publisher: William Andrew
ISBN: 0128183683
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 346

Book Description
Service Life Prediction of Polymers and Coatings: Enhanced Methods focuses on the cutting-edge science behind how plastic and polymer materials are modified by the effects of weathering, offering the latest advances in service life prediction methods. The chapters have been developed by experts based on their contributions as part of the 7th Service Life Prediction Meeting.
