El presente volumen recoge, actualizadas, una parte importante de las comunicaciones presentadas en el II y III Encuentro de jóvenes investigadores en derecho de inmigración y asilo celebrados en Barcelona y Girona, respectivamente. Environmental justice and social justice are well established concepts in social research. This book goes beyond the established discourse to show how Geographic Information Systems can unveil higher levels of spatial unfairness when both forms of injustice coincide in the same place. Territorial injustice is the result of the disproportionately higher exposure of vulnerable communities to pollution and environmental risks. Overlapping layers of georeferenced environmental and social information generate maps depicting territorial injustice which can be a powerful tool to facilitate social dialogue and prompt policy change. This volume brings approaches from ten Latin American countries to demonstrate how the interdisciplinarity between law and Geographic Information Systems can contribute to the development of fairer public policies, and prevent and mitigate cases of extreme injustice. This monograph offers the first systematic overview of the protection of human rights in trade agreements in the Americas. Traditionally, trade agreements in the Americas were concerned with economic questions and paid little attention to human rights. However, in the wake of the 'new regionalism', which emerged at the end of the last century, more clauses addressing social issues such as labour rights and environmental standards were inserted in trade agreements. As economic integration increased, a framework for the protection of human rights evolved. This collection of essays explores cultural phenomena that are shaping global identities in contemporary Spain. This volume is comprised of twenty essays that examine literary, documentary, and film representations of the multicultural configurations of Spain.
