Henri Ciriani

Henri Ciriani PDF Author: Mauro Galantino
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Architecture
Languages : en
Pages : 244

Book Description
This volume is the most complete, most recent monograph devoted to the work of Henri Ciriani, one of the recognized masters of French architecture since the 1960s. Ciriani's work came to international attention through the design and construction of the Museum of the Great War at Peronne, the archeological museum in Arles and residential projects in the Netherlands. His role has been of exceptional interest in France, during a historical period marked by Le Corbusier's death and by massive intervention of the State in the construction of new public and residential space. This monograph by Mauro Galantino, a former student of Ciriani, is a dual endeavor that presents and analyzes over fifty works by the French master and describes his role within French and European architectural culture. For the first time the individual projects are illustrated not only by technical drawings and wide photographic coverage but also by a rich selection of study sketches by Ciriani himself.

VLSI-SOC: From Systems to Chips

VLSI-SOC: From Systems to Chips PDF Author: Manfred Glesner
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 0387334033
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 315

Book Description
This book contains extended and revised versions of the best papers that have been presented during the twelfth edition of the IFIP TC10/WG10.5 International Conference on Very Large Scale Integration, a Global System-on-a-Chip Design & CAD Conference. The 12* edition was held at the Lufthansa Training Center in Seeheim-Jugenheim, south of Darmstadt, Germany (December 1-3, 2003). Previous conferences have taken place in Edinburgh (81), Trondheim (83), Tokyo (85), Vancouver (87), Munich (89), Edinburgh (91), Grenoble (93), Tokyo (95), Gramado (97), Lisbon (99)andMontpellier(01). The purpose of this conference, sponsored by IFIP TC 10 Working Group 10.5, is to provide a forum to exchange ideas and show research results in the field of microelectronics design. The current trend toward increasing chip integration brings about exhilarating new challenges both at the physical and system-design levels: this conference aims to address these exciting new issues. The 2003 edition of VLSI-SoC conserved the traditional structure, which has been successful in previous editions. The quality of submissions (142 papers) made the selection process difficult, but finally 57 papers and 14 posters were accepted for presentation in VLSI-SoC 2003. Submissions came from Austria, Bulgaria, Brazil, Canada, Egypt, England, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Iran, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan and the United States of America. From 57 papers presented at the conference, 18 were selected to have an extended and revised version included in this book.

Big Data technology is currently dominating both the market and research. The book provides readers with a broad overview of key research efforts in modelling, querying and analysing data, which, over the last few decades, have became massive and heterogeneous areas.

Protecting Privacy in Data Release

Protecting Privacy in Data Release PDF Author: Giovanni Livraga
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319161091
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 204

Book Description
This book presents a comprehensive approach to protecting sensitive information when large data collections are released by their owners. It addresses three key requirements of data privacy: the protection of data explicitly released, the protection of information not explicitly released but potentially vulnerable due to a release of other data, and the enforcement of owner-defined access restrictions to the released data. It is also the first book with a complete examination of how to enforce dynamic read and write access authorizations on released data, applicable to the emerging data outsourcing and cloud computing situations. Private companies, public organizations and final users are releasing, sharing, and disseminating their data to take reciprocal advantage of the great benefits of making their data available to others. This book weighs these benefits against the potential privacy risks. A detailed analysis of recent techniques for privacy protection in data release and case studies illustrate crucial scenarios. Protecting Privacy in Data Release targets researchers, professionals and government employees working in security and privacy. Advanced-level students in computer science and electrical engineering will also find this book useful as a secondary text or reference.

Resisting Postmodern Architecture

Resisting Postmodern Architecture PDF Author: Stylianos Giamarelos
Publisher: UCL Press
ISBN: 1800081332
Category : Architecture
Languages : en
Pages : 438

Book Description
Since its first appearance in 1981, critical regionalism has enjoyed a celebrated worldwide reception. The 1990s increased its pertinence as an architectural theory that defends the cultural identity of a place resisting the homogenising onslaught of globalisation. Today, its main principles (such as acknowledging the climate, history, materials, culture and topography of a specific place) are integrated in architects’ education across the globe. But at the same time, the richer cross-cultural history of critical regionalism has been reduced to schematic juxtapositions of ‘the global’ with ‘the local’. Retrieving both the globalising branches and the overlooked cross-cultural roots of critical regionalism, Resisting Postmodern Architecture resituates critical regionalism within the wider framework of debates around postmodern architecture, the diverse contexts from which it emerged, and the cultural media complex that conditioned its reception. In so doing, it explores the intersection of three areas of growing historical and theoretical interest: postmodernism, critical regionalism and globalisation. Based on more than 50 interviews and previously unpublished archival material from six countries, the book transgresses existing barriers to integrate sources in other languages into anglophone architectural scholarship. In so doing, it shows how the ‘periphery’ was not just a passive recipient, but also an active generator of architectural theory and practice. Stylianos Giamarelos challenges long-held ‘central’ notions of supposedly ‘international’ discourses of the recent past, and outlines critical regionalism as an unfinished project apposite for the 21st century on the fronts of architectural theory, history and historiography.
