Fast Chemical Reactions in Turbulent Flows

Fast Chemical Reactions in Turbulent Flows PDF Author: Rustam Ya Deberdeev
Publisher: Smithers Rapra
ISBN: 1909030287
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 334

Book Description
This book describes the fundamentals of fast liquid-phase chemical reactions and the principles of their scientific foundation, technical implementation and industrial application of new technologies. In addition, the equipment required to perform these reactions, in a turbulent mode in the chemical, petrochemical and petroleum industries, is also discussed. The macrokinetic approach has been developed with consideration of the diffusion, hydrodynamics, and heat transfer processes. Due to the advancement of fundamental knowledge, equations of practical engineering importance have been obtained for the calculations of mass and heat transfer processes carried out in conditions of high turbulence, and developed for the implementation in fast chemical reactions involving the synthesis of low molecular weight products and polymers. New methods for controlling the molecular characteristics of polymers have been developed based on the tailored regulation of the hydrodynamics of the reactive mixture flow. Typical processes have been used as model examples to reveal the influence of turbulence on the behaviour of fast chemical reactions used for the synthesis of low molecular weight products, in single-phase and two-phase reactive systems. Brand new tubular devices have been developed with the following characteristics: compact size, high productivity, and a quasi-perfect mixing operation mode in turbulent flows. These devices are subdivided into cylindrical, shell-and-tube, 'zone', and diffuser-confusor designs. Original solutions are proposed for the instrumental implementation of fast liquid-phase processes and development of continuous energy- and resource-efficient technologies for the synthesis of some large-scale compounds.

Chemical Reactions and Chemical Reactors

Chemical Reactions and Chemical Reactors PDF Author: George W. Roberts
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 0471742201
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 483

Book Description
Focused on the undergraduate audience, Chemical Reaction Engineering provides students with complete coverage of the fundamentals, including in-depth coverage of chemical kinetics. By introducing heterogeneous chemistry early in the book, the text gives students the knowledge they need to solve real chemistry and industrial problems. An emphasis on problem-solving and numerical techniques ensures students learn and practice the skills they will need later on, whether for industry or graduate work.

Mixture and Chemical Combination

Mixture and Chemical Combination PDF Author: Pierre Duhem
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9401722927
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 344

Book Description
Much of Duhem's work as a professional scientist was closely related to the newly emerging discipline of physical chemistry. The book and associated papers translated here revolve around his concomitant philosophical and historical interests in chemistry-topics largely uncovered by Duhem's writings hitherto available in English. He understood contemporary concerns of chemists to be a development of the ancient dispute over the nature of mixture. Having developed his historical account from distinctions drawn from the atomists and Aristotelians of antiquity, he places his own views of chemical combination squarely within the Aristotelian tradition. Apart from illuminating Duhem's own work, it is of interest to see how the ancient dispute can be related to modern science by someone competent to make such comparisons. The book is lucid and logically stringent without assuming any particular mathematical prerequisites, and provides a masterly statement of an important line of nineteenth century thought which is of interest in its own right as well as providing insight into Duhem's broader philosophical views.

Callahan the Falcon

Callahan the Falcon PDF Author: Chris Curtin
Publisher: Trafford Publishing
ISBN: 146698600X
Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 311

Book Description
If you enjoy having your sensibilities tested, please join Callahan and me, the narrator, as we deliver the story of his origin. This story is an artfully unusual satirical medieval fantasy with undertones of dark tragedy that grips readers attention with offensive quip and brutal violence. It tells the tale of a wayward boy who rises to assassin, then onward to revolutionary and beyond. Beware, this tale is not for the faint of heart and contains adult language, death, gore, and some sexual content. It mocks and makes light of theology, sex, politics, race, and just about any other subject of taboo nature that is supposed to be left unspoken. For those who are intrigued, join us, for we are eager to entertain. For those who would shy from such good luck to ye in what must be a drab and overly sheltered existence.
