Basin-wide Diagenetic Patterns

Basin-wide Diagenetic Patterns PDF Author: Isabel P. Montañez
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 320

Book Description
By integrating the methods of different investagitive fields, this work gives us an interdisciplinary look at basic-scale subsurface fluid flow and its link to regional patterns of diagenesis, metasomatism, sedimentary ore deposits, and hydrocarbon accumulations. Issues addessed include the temporal evolution of hydrodynamic system, paleoflow conduits and their diagenetic products, subsurface fluid-rock interactions, the geochern-istry of basinal fluids, and heat flow in sedimentary basins. Paleo-fluid flow in both carbonate and siliciclastic systems is covered.

The Geometry and Petrogenesis of Dolomite Hydrocarbon Reservoirs

The Geometry and Petrogenesis of Dolomite Hydrocarbon Reservoirs PDF Author: Colin J. R. Braithwaite
Publisher: Geological Society of London
ISBN: 9781862391666
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 430

Book Description
The wide distribution of dolomite rocks in North American, Middle- and Far-Eastern hydrocarbon reservoirs is reason enough for their intensive study. In this volume dolomite enthusiasts review progress and define the current boundaries of dolomite research, related particularly to the importance of these rocks as reservoirs.

Geology of Carbonate Reservoirs

Geology of Carbonate Reservoirs PDF Author: Wayne M. Ahr
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 1118210387
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 412

Book Description
An accessible resource, covering the fundamentals of carbonate reservoir engineering Includes discussions on how, where and why carbonate are formed, plus reviews of basic sedimentological and stratigraphic principles to explain carbonate platform characteristics and stratigraphic relationships Offers a new, genetic classification of carbonate porosity that is especially useful in predicting spatial distribution of pore networks.

Carbonate Reservoir Characterization

Carbonate Reservoir Characterization PDF Author: F. Jerry Lucia
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3540727426
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 342

Book Description
F. Jerry Lucia, working in America’s main oil-rich state, has produced a work that goes after one of the holy grails of oil prospecting. One main target in petroleum recovery is the description of the three-dimensional distribution of petrophysical properties on the interwell scale in carbonate reservoirs. Doing so would improve performance predictions by means of fluid-flow computer simulations. Lucia’s book focuses on the improvement of geological, petrophysical, and geostatistical methods, describes the basic petrophysical properties, important geology parameters, and rock fabrics from cores, and discusses their spatial distribution. A closing chapter deals with reservoir models as an input into flow simulators.

Contaminants in the Subsurface

Contaminants in the Subsurface PDF Author: National Research Council
Publisher: National Academies Press
ISBN: 030909447X
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 371

Book Description
At hundreds of thousands of commercial, industrial, and military sites across the country, subsurface materials including groundwater are contaminated with chemical waste. The last decade has seen growing interest in using aggressive source remediation technologies to remove contaminants from the subsurface, but there is limited understanding of (1) the effectiveness of these technologies and (2) the overall effect of mass removal on groundwater quality. This report reviews the suite of technologies available for source remediation and their ability to reach a variety of cleanup goals, from meeting regulatory standards for groundwater to reducing costs. The report proposes elements of a protocol for accomplishing source remediation that should enable project managers to decide whether and how to pursue source remediation at their sites.

Potassic Igneous Rocks and Associated Gold-Copper Mineralization

Potassic Igneous Rocks and Associated Gold-Copper Mineralization PDF Author: Daniel Müller
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 366200920X
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 225

Book Description
In recent years, there has been increasing interest from geoscientists in potassic ig neous rocks. Academic geoscientists have been interested in their petrogenesis and their potential value in defining the tectonic setting of the terranes into which they were intruded, and exploration geoscientists have become increasingly interested in the association of these rocks with major epithermal gold and porphyry gold-copper deposits. Despite this current interest, there is no comprehensive textbook that deals with these aspects of potassic igneous rocks. This book redresses this situation by elucidating the characteristic features of potassic (high-K) igneous rocks, erecting a hierarchical scheme that allows interpre tation of their tectonic setting using whole-rock geochemistry, and investigating their associations with a variety of gold and copper-gold deposits, worldwide. About two thirds of the book is based on a PhD thesis by Dr Daniel Muller which was produced at the Key Centre for Strategic Mineral Deposits within the Department of Geology and Geophysics at The University of Western Australia under the supervision of Professor David Groves, the late Dr Nick Rock, Professor Eugen Stumpf!, Dr Wayne Taylor, and Dr Brendon Griffin. The remainder of the book has been compiled from the literature using the collective experience of the two authors. The book is dedi cated to the memory of Dr Rock who initiated the research project but died before its completion.
