Idaho Aviation
Author: Crista Videriksen Worthy
Publisher: Arcadia Publishing
ISBN: 1467107565
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 160
Book Description
Since the dawn of aviation, Idahoans have employed aircraft to carry people, groceries, mail, freight, and livestock over inhospitable terrain. Idaho's airstrips are the stuff of dreams, offering pilots, anglers, hikers, and river-rafters access to deep wilderness less than an hour from the city. Aerial firefighting was born--and is based--in Idaho. Flight instructors in Idaho prepared thousands of pilots to fight in World War II. As the birthplace of United Airlines, with its famed "friendly skies," Idaho is one of the country's most aviation-friendly states. Government officials, private landowners, and volunteers have worked together to create and then preserve an infrastructure of big-city, small-town, and backcountry airstrips that are the envy of pilots worldwide.

Change the attitude, Change the climate through Restorative Justice: A pilot study in the UK, Switzerland, Romania, France and Turkey
Author: The Glocal Partnership
Publisher: RJ4All Publications
ISBN: 1911634852
Category : Law
Languages : en

Book Description
This E-book was produced as part of the project “Glocal”. In this comprehensive report, a comparative analysis has been conducted presenting findings from the 5 partner countries, which is being followed by chapters in partners’ native languages. Following this, an evaluation of the overall project and its activities of implementation is being presented. Policy recommendations are one of the most important part of the report to be shared and implemented in the future. Coordinated by the Restorative Justice for All International Institute and delivered in partnership with Carmen Sylva Art College, İ.ova Youth Art Culture Organisation, Lycée Beauséjour and Eruditus Language School. The U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change Activities Implemented Jointly (AIJ) Pilot: Experiences and Lessons Learned
Author: Robert K. Dixon
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9401142874
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 459
Book Description
Jose Maria Figueres Olsen Former President Republic of Costa Rica The heated debate about global climate change continues. Some say it is the gravest calamity our species has ever encountered. Others deny its existence altogether. As with most caseS of human decision making, the truth is most likely somewhere in the middle. The challenge of this particular set of decisions is the overwhelming sense of uncertainty. Science cannot fully attribute the climatic catastrophes occurring before our eyes to increasing levels of greenhouse gas concentrations. Neither can Science prove that extreme events and warming trends are unrelated to human behavior. Economic models, sophisticated as they are, cannot agree on the costs of reducing carbon dioxide (C~) emissions in industrialized countries. International negotiations are thus mired in the morass of scientific and economic uncertainty. The are only two elements of certainty in the whole debate. The frrst is the need for precaution. The potential impacts are such, that the risk of inaction is unaffordable to the human race. Under the current state of knowledge, mankind must take cautious but unequivocal steps to reverse current patterns.
