The pioneers of the early Salem Baptist were very successful because they paved the rough and rocky way for us. As we celebrate our Centennial, let us not forget that it is our Christian duty to pave the way for the church of tomorrow. Salem baptist church was founded in the year of 1874 at Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. Baptists in the Paw Creek and Hoskins community came together for the expressed purpose of organ izing a Baptist Church. After much debate on the issue of organizing a Baptist Church, it was finally agreed upon by both of these communities to seek the aid of several officers at First Baptist Church of Charlotte, North Carolina to assist them in organizing a legal and constituted Missionary Baptist Church.
