Book Description
Excerpt from Centenary Voices: Or, a Part of the Work of the Women of the Universalist Church, From Its Centenary Year to the Present Time The Woman's Centenary Association grew up out of conditions unusually sterile, and obstacles most difficult to meet and overcome. N o attempt had been made, previous to that of the Murray Fund, to unite the people in any enterprise for the general good; and a feeling existed in many minds not merely indifferent, but decidedly opposed to broad universal missionary effort. There had never been any formal attempt to plant the Universalist Church on foreign soil, and infinite faith and courage have been exercised to win the people step by step to a generous recognition of the fact that Universal means all men everywhere; first the home, then the home Church, then the State, then the general body elected to serve the Church, and, finally, the Church universal throughout the world, without distinction of race or degree. All must be saved and come unto a knowledge of the truth. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. ISBN: 1558967915
Category : History

Pages : 592
Book Description
A panel of top scholars presents the first comprehensive collection of primary sources from Unitarian Universalist history. From Arius and Origen to Peter Morales and Rebecca Parker, this two-volume anthology features leaders, thinkers, and ordinary participants in the ever-changing tradition of liberal religion. Each volume contains more than a hundred distinct selections, with scholarly introductions by leading experts in Unitarian Universalist history. The selections include sermons, theologies, denominational statements, hymns, autobiographies, and manifestos, with special attention to class, cultural, gender, and sexual diversity.
