Book Description
Excerpt from Catalytic Hydrogenation and Reduction The present volume has been written with the Object of presenting in an easily accessible form the numerous examples of catalytic. Hydrogenation which have from time to time been published. Special attention has been given to experimental methods and, in addition to the simple hydrogenation of unsaturated linkages, such as the conversion of ethylene to ethane or of benzene to cyclohexane, various catalytic reductions of a less simple nature, usually involving the splitting Off of water or of a halogen acid, have been included. A chapter has also been devoted to dehydrogenation. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Homogeneous Hydrogenation

Homogeneous Hydrogenation PDF Author: P.A. Chaloner
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9401717915
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 293

Book Description
Homogeneous hydrogenation is one of the most thoroughly studied fields of homogeneous catalysis. The results of these studies have proved to be most important for an understanding of the underlying principles of the activation of small molecules by transition metal complexes. During the past three decades homogeneous hydrogenation has found widespread application in organic chemistry, including the production of important pharmaceuticals, especially where a sophisticated degree of selectivity is required. This volume presents a general account of the main principles and applications of homogeneous hydrogenation by transition metal complexes. Special attention is devoted to the mechanisms by which these processes occur, and the role of the recently discovered complexes of molecular hydrogen is described. Sources of hydrogen, other than H2, are also considered (transfer hydrogenation). The latest achievements in highly stereoselective hydrogenations have made possible many new applications in organic synthesis. These applications are documented by giving details of the reduction of important unsaturated substrates (alkenes, alkynes, aldehydes and ketones, nitrocompounds, etc.). Hydrogenation in biphasic and phase transfer catalyzed systems is also described. Finally, a discussion of the biochemical routes of H2 activation highlights the similarities and differences in performing hydrogenation in both natural and synthetic systems. For researchers working in the fields of homogeneous catalysis, especially in areas such as pharmaceuticals, plastics and fine chemicals.

Catalytic Hydrogenation in Organic Synthesis

Catalytic Hydrogenation in Organic Synthesis PDF Author: Morris Freifelder
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN:
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 218

Book Description
Based on over 22 years of experience, this book presents a substantial accumulation of knowledge. Clearly and understandably written, it gives detailed descriptions of many experiments, providing step-by-step procedures along with personal notes and observations, directions, suggestions, and safety precautions. The yields obtained in these experiments are good to excellent, and most of the hydrogenations discussed are carried out under very mild conditions.

Catalytic Reduction in Organic Synthesis

Catalytic Reduction in Organic Synthesis PDF Author: Johannes G. de Vries
Publisher: Thieme Chemistry
ISBN: 9783132406223
Category : Catalysis
Languages : en
Pages : 0

Book Description
Catalytic reductions are among the most used synthetic transformations, and the past 15 years have seen great progress in this field. Science of Synthesis: Catalytic Reduction in Organic Synthesis includes the latest developments, as well as selective coverage of more well-established methods. Both heterogeneous and homogeneous catalytic systems are covered, and enantioselective methodology is well represented. There is a focus on the use of metal nanoparticles, both in suspension as well as on solid supports. Furthermore, the advent of research on the conversion of renewable resources into fuels and chemicals has given a great impetus to the field, as deoxygenations are often the first step in the conversion of biomass and this can often be achieved using hydrogenation or hydrogenolysis reactions. Scope, limitations, and mechanism of the reactions are discussed and key experimental procedures are included.

Hydrogenation

Hydrogenation PDF Author: Iyad Karamé
Publisher: BoD – Books on Demand
ISBN: 9535107852
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 342

Book Description
The domain of catalytic hydrogenation continues to grow fast, reflecting the wide range of chemical applications that can be enhanced by the easy use of molecular hydrogen. The advances in characterization techniques and their application have improved our understanding of the catalytic processes and mechanisms occurring in both homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis. The aim of this volume, although not exhaustive, is to provide a general overview of new progress of the hydrogenation reactions. This volume comprises a series of various contributions, as reviews or original articles, treating heterogeneously and homogeneously catalyzed hydrogenation reactions. It is composed of three parts: hydrogenation reactions in fine organic chemistry, hydrogenation reactions in environmental chemistry and renewable energy, and special topics in hydrogenation.
