Field plots in stands of mature white spruce (Picea glauca (Moench) Voss) near Grande Prairie, Alberta, were treated for control of seed and coneinsects by soil application with carbofuran 5G at rates of 4.5, 6.7, and 8.9g/cm of tree diameter during late May to early June 1979. Cone and seedsamples were subsequently analyzed for insect species and abundance, insectcontrol, seed losses, and phytotoxicity.
