L'étude s'inscrit dans le cadre du programme provincial d'amélioration de la gestion des neiges usées, tel que décrit dans la politique sur l'élimination des neiges usées. La qualité de la neige est évaluée en fonction de l'importance de l'accumulation. De plus, une comparaison des concentrations de polluants pour les secteurs résidentiels et non-résidentiels a été effectuée. Une comparaison des résultats d'analyse avec d'autres valeurs (normes, concentrations de polluants d'une averse de pluie et d'autres études portant sur la neige usée) a également été faite.
