Michael Hair (Hayer, etc.) was Mayor of the Village of Oberschwandorf, in the duchy of Württemberg. He died before 1616. His descendant, Hans Jacob Hair, was born in Pfalzgrafenweiler, Germany in 1707. He married Magdalena Wagner in 1734. They immigrated to Charleston, South Carolina in 1751. He pursuaded other family members to move to Laurens County. They are found in the 1820 census of that county. James and Rachel were the parents of four children (possibly more): David, Elias, Rachel and William. Descendants lived mostly in Georgia, with others moving to Florida and elsewhere.
