This monograph describes the incidence of cancer in Ontario over 1964-91 (excluding children up to age 14), highlighting trends and regional differences over the 1980s. The first section describes the research methods used, and provides an overview of the people of Ontario as well as its regions and its cancer care system. The main section includes a graphical presentation of temporal trends for selected cancer sites such as stomach, lung, and breast. Supporting text for each site describes overall patterns, data quality issues, known risk factors, prospects for prevention, as well as the most significant trends noted. The final section includes a set of bar charts showing regional patterns of incidence, and more detailed incidence data in table form.
