The Stuarts of this family were in Virginia in the very early 1600's. Thomas Stuart (ca. 1764-1826) was born in Virginia. He and his wife, Elisabeth (ca. 1765-1828) both died in Missouri. They had migrated from Virginia to Jessamine Co., Ky. by 1800 and to Missouri in about 1816. Eight of their ten children came to Missouri with them.
