Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program for Latino Youth
Author: Evelyn Arriola
Publisher:
ISBN: 9781339638287
Category : Fund raising
Languages : en
Pages : 51
Book Description
Abstract: Teen pregnancy rates are still rising in the Latino community while pregnancy rates for teens in ethnic groups have shown less of a decline over time. The knowledge of sexual health is lacking in the Latino community due to cultural and communication barriers. Therefore, the purpose of this project was to develop a school-based teenage pregnancy prevention program for Latino/a adolescents attending James A. Garfield High School in East Los Angeles, California. School-based prevention programs could potentially reduce the amount of teenage pregnancies occurring and better enable adolescents to complete their education. The California Wellness Foundation was identified as a potential funder due to its goals and mission being compatible with the proposed program. The proposed school based teenage pregnancy prevention program will provide teens and parents with knowledge and skills on how to effectively avoid pregnancy. The actual submission and/or funding of this grant were not required for the successful completion of this academic project.
