Book Description
The California Statewide Plug-In Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Assessment conveys to interested parties the Energy Commission's conclusions, recommendations, and intentions with respect to plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) infrastructure development. There are several relatively low-risk and high-priority electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) deployment options that will encourage PEV sales and.

Southern California Plug-in Electric Vehicle Atlas

Southern California Plug-in Electric Vehicle Atlas PDF Author: UCLA Luskin Center
Publisher: Lulu.com
ISBN: 1300621591
Category : Reference
Languages : en
Pages : 189

Book Description
The Southern California PEV Atlas provides a comprehensive series of neighborhood maps that characterize PEV ownership by neighborhood and project PEV ownership growth by council of government and utility service areas. Using a regional travel model, the Atlas also estimates time-of-day proximity of PEVs to charging opportunities at workplaces and retail centers. The Atlas maps additional charging opportunities at multi-unit dwellings and parking facilities. The Southern California PEV Plan, Atlas and other related reports can be found at the PEV Readiness Resource page. Funding for the Atlas was provided by the Southern California Association of Governments, the South Coast Air Quality Management District and the U.S. Department of Energy.

Electric Vehicle Integration in a Smart Microgrid Environment

Electric Vehicle Integration in a Smart Microgrid Environment PDF Author: Mohammad Saad Alam
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1000393003
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 381

Book Description
Electric Vehicle Integration in a Smart Microgrid Environment The growing demand for energy in today’s world, especially in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, has been met with massive exploitation of fossil fuels, resulting in an increase in environmental pollutants. In order to mitigate the issues arising from conventional internal combustion engine-powered vehicles, there has been a considerable acceleration in the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs). Research has shown that the impact of fossil fuel use in transportation and surging demand in power owing to the growing EV charging infrastructure can potentially be minimalized by smart microgrids. As EVs find wider acceptance with major advancements in high efficiency drivetrain and vehicle design, it has become clear that there is a need for a system-level understanding of energy storage and management in a microgrid environment. Practical issues, such as fleet management, coordinated operation, repurposing of batteries, and environmental impact of recycling and disposal, need to be carefully studied in the context of an ageing grid infrastructure. This book explores such a perspective with contributions from leading experts on planning, analysis, optimization, and management of electrified transportation and the transportation infrastructure. The primary purpose of this book is to capture state-of-the-art development in smart microgrid management with EV integration and their applications. It also aims to identify potential research directions and technologies that will facilitate insight generation in various domains, from smart homes to smart cities, and within industry, business, and consumer applications. We expect the book to serve as a reference for a larger audience, including power system architects, practitioners, developers, new researchers, and graduate-level students, especially for emerging clean energy and transportation electrification sectors in the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

Book Description
This presentation includes results from the second California installment of EVI-Pro. Pursuant to California Assembly Bill 2127, evolving market and technology conditions warrant updating this statewide infrastructure assessment at least every two years. EVI-Pro has been updated to consider California's 2030 goal to have 5 million zero emission vehicles (ZEVs) on the road by 2030. CEC and NREL with the support of UC Davis and other state agencies, have set out to refine EVI-Pro to reflect increasing PEV market share, evolving vehicle and charging technology, and observed charging behavior.

Age of Auto Electric

Age of Auto Electric PDF Author: Matthew N. Eisler
Publisher: MIT Press
ISBN: 0262372037
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 379

Book Description
The electric vehicle revival reflects negotiations between public policy, which promotes clean, fuel-efficient vehicles, and the auto industry, which promotes high-performance vehicles. Electric cars were once as numerous as internal combustion engine cars before all but vanishing from American roads around World War I. Now, we are in the midst of an electric vehicle revival, and the goal for a sustainable car seems to be within reach. In Age of Auto Electric, Matthew N. Eisler shows that the halting development of the electric car in the intervening decades was a consequence of tensions between environmental, energy, and economic policy imperatives that informed a protracted reappraisal of the automobile system. These factors drove the electric vehicle revival, argues Eisler, hastening automaking’s transformation into a science-based industry in the process. Challenging the common assumption that the electric vehicle revival is due to the development of better batteries, Age of Auto Electric instead focuses on changing environmental and socioeconomic conditions, energy and environmental policies, systems of energy conversion and industrial production, and innovation practices that affected the prevalence and popularity of electric vehicles in recent decades. Eisler describes a world in transition from legacy to alternative energy-conversion systems and the promises, compromises, new problems, and unintended consequences that enterprise has entailed.
