Approximate Indicial Lift Function for Tapered, Swept Wings in Incompressible Flow

Approximate Indicial Lift Function for Tapered, Swept Wings in Incompressible Flow PDF Author: National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)

Pages : 34

Book Description
An approximate indicial lift function associated with circulation was developed for tapered, swept wings in incompressible flow. The function is derived by representing the wings with a simple vortex system. The results from the derived equations compare well with the limited available results from more rigorous and complex methods. The equations, as derived, are not very convenient for calculating the dynamic response of aircraft, parameter extraction, or for determining frequency-response curves for wings. Therefore, an expression is developed to convert the indicial response function to an exponential form which is more convenient for these purposes. Queijo, M. J. and Wells, W. R. and Keskar, D. A. Theoretical and Experimental Investigation of the Subsonic-flow Fields Beneath Swept and Unswept Wings with Tails of Vortex-induced Velocities

Theoretical and Experimental Investigation of the Subsonic-flow Fields Beneath Swept and Unswept Wings with Tails of Vortex-induced Velocities PDF Author: William J. Alford
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Air flow
Languages : en
Pages : 100

Book Description
The flow-field characteristics beneath swept and unswept wings as determined by potential-flow theory are compared with the experimentally determined flow fields beneath swept and unswept wing-fuselage combinations. The potential-flow theory utilized considered both the spanwise and chordwise distributions of vorticity as well as the wing-thickness effects. The perturbation velocities induced by a unit horseshoe vortex are included in tabular form.

Probability and Frequency Characteristics of Some Flight Buffet Loads

Probability and Frequency Characteristics of Some Flight Buffet Loads PDF Author: Wilber B. Huston
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Buffeting (Aerodynamics)
Languages : en
Pages : 684

Book Description
The frequency characteristics and statistical properties of the buffet loads measured on the unswept wing and tail of a fighter airplane have been studied in the stall and in the shock regime. The results indicate that the wing loads in buffeting can be treated as the Gaussian response of a simple elastic system. The tail loads appear to represent a more complicated pattern.
