Mastery of Holcomb C3-R® Crosslinking for Keratoconus & Other Disorders: For Patients and Physicians

Mastery of Holcomb C3-R® Crosslinking for Keratoconus & Other Disorders: For Patients and Physicians PDF Author: Brian S Boxer Wachler
Publisher: JP Medical Ltd
ISBN: 935090327X
Category : Medical

Pages : 122

Book Description
Keratoconus is degeneration of the structure of the cornea. The cornea is the clear tissue covering the front of the eye. In keratoconus, the shape of the cornea slowly changes from round to conical (PubMed Health). In the early stages, keratoconus can be corrected with the use of lenses, but in the later stages, surgery is the only option. Holcomb C3-R® is a non-surgical technique that involves placing drops of the vitamin Riboflavin into the eye and using a UV light to activate them. The drops strengthen the fibres of the cornea and over time, preserve sight (American Keratoconus Association). This book is a concise guide to the technique of Holcomb C3-R® to treat keratoconus. Authored by the inventor of the procedure, Brian S Boxer Wachler, the text is based on his first hand clinical experience and explains the history and basic science of cross linking, the development and naming of the technique, its uses and complications, and first patient results. Key points Concise guide to technique of Holcomb C3-R® to treat keratoconus Authored by inventor of the technique and based on clinical experience Includes more than 60 full colour images and illustrations

Operation C3

Operation C3 PDF Author: John Burtt
Publisher: Pen and Sword Military
ISBN: 1399065807
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 298

Book Description
"Burtt offers an account of how an invasion might have unfolded and its consequences, by drawing on parallel events at other times and places...Definitely worth a read." — The NYMAS Review When writing his memoirs after World War II, German Generalfeldmarschall Albert Kesselring stated, “Italy’s missing her chance to occupy the island [of Malta] at the start of hostilities will go down in history as a fundamental blunder.” It’s easy to see why this tiny 95 square mile island held such a prominent place in the war’s Mediterranean Theater. Located almost halfway between the British bases of Gibraltar and Alexandria, Egypt, and just 60 miles south of Sicily, her airfields and naval base stood directly in the path of Italy’s (and her German partner’s) line of communication from Europe to North Africa. Operation C3 is a detailed study of the Axis 1942 plan to invade and take the island of Malta. The book examines the future combatants up to the Axis capture of Tobruk, in June 1942. The book then provides a realistic assessment of what would have had to happen if the Axis had decided to launch the invasion. Operation C3 then provides a day-by-day battle narrative of the invasion as if it had occurred on Saturday, August 15, 1942. The battle narrative is based on the combatant’s actual plans from the Italian and Maltese archives. and the realistic appraisal of what could have happened when those plans collide. A Reality & Analysis section is added after the battle narrative to discuss what really happened after Tobruk fell and why Operation C3 was never attempted.

C3 Corvette: How to Build & Modify 1968Ð1982

C3 Corvette: How to Build & Modify 1968Ð1982 PDF Author: Chris Petris
Publisher: CarTech Inc
ISBN: 1613250339
Category : Transportation
Languages : en
Pages : 179

Book Description
The C3 Corvette’s swooping fenders and unmistakable body style capture the imagination and make it an enduring classic. About a half-million Corvettes were sold between 1968 and 1982, and the unique combination of Shark style, handling, and V-8 performance is revered. Some early C3s, built between 1968 and 1974, are simply too rare and valuable to be modified, particularly the big-block cars. The later Corvettes, built from 1975 to 1982, came with low-compression engines that produced anemic performance. The vast majority of these Corvettes are affordable, plentiful, and the ideal platform for a high-performance build. Corvette expert, high-performance shop owner, and builder Chris Petris shows how to transform a mundane C3 into an outstanding high-performance car. Stock Corvettes of this generation carry antiquated brakes, steering, suspension, and anemic V-8 engines with 165 to 220 hp. He covers the installation of top-quality aftermarket suspension components, LS crate engines, big brakes, frame upgrades, and improved driveline parts. The book also includes popular upgrades to every component group, including engine, transmission, differential, suspension, steering, chassis, electrical system, interior, tires, wheels, and more. Whether you are mildly modifying your Corvette for greater comfort and driveability or substantially modifying it for vastly improved acceleration, braking, and handling, this book has insightful instruction to help you reach your goals. No other book provides as many popular how-to projects to comprehensively transform the C3 Corvette into a 21st-century sports car.

Book Description
There's something odd about twin-lens reflex (TLR) film cameras, but very appealing. I can't really explain it. TLR cameras are bulky, awkward to use and, well, kind-of weird. Still, I love picking one up and taking it out to shoot. Mamiya TLRs comprise a rare line of TLR cameras in that they were the only pro TLR cameras that had interchangeable lenses other than Contaflex. That fact alone made me long for one a long time. When I bought my Yashica Mat EM, there were Mamiya TLR cameras available, but usually at two to three times the cost. Like the other medium-format (MF) cameras - Hasselblad, Bronica, Pentax, etc. - the Mamiyas were far out of reach. That is until around 2003 when photographers were ditching their film cameras, and selling them cheap. They may not be as cheap now, but they're still worth the prices. As I said, shooting with a TLR is an odd experience, but one definitely worth experiencing.

Guidebook to Protein Toxins and Their Use in Cell Biology

Guidebook to Protein Toxins and Their Use in Cell Biology PDF Author: Rino Rappuoli
Publisher: OUP Oxford
ISBN: 019154728X
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 278

Book Description
Many bacteria, animals, and plants produce toxins that can prove lethal to other organisms. Toxins are a form of "biological warfare" that helps their producer to survive and so confer an evolutionary advantage. They display an extraordinary range of complexity, from the formic acid provided by ants to bacterial proteins composed of thousands of amino acids. This Guidebook considers the more complex protein and peptide toxins and groups them according to their mode of action. Topics covered include: membrane-permeabilizing toxins; toxins affecting signal transduction and protein synthesis; cytoskeleton-affecting toxins; toxins affecting the immune and inflammatory response. This class of biomolecules will be of interest to a wide range of researchers in cell biology, neuroscience, and toxicology.
