Building Attractive Christianity: PDF Author: Professor Samuel C. Obi
Publisher: AuthorHouse
ISBN: 172833456X
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 107

Book Description
This book elaborates on how to build God’s Church and challenges individual Christians, the clergy, and the Church to examine themselves and to live as the Lord requires in building His Church. It sends a message to the Church which needs to minister to the world as the body of Christ in that it has a responsibility to represent Christ to the world. It also sends a message to the individual Christian who needs to live as light to the world, because every Christian has an obligation to live a life of sacrifice for the Lord. Chapter 1 introduces the fact that the average American Christian today does not find church attendance as attractive as attending most other social events. Chapter 2 discusses the attractiveness of Christ and argues that, if Christ was attractive to the throngs of people who followed Him during His days, His Church would be equally attractive to the world of our days. Chapter 3 covers the subject of how Christians can assist in fulfilling Jesus' Great Commission of preaching the Gospel to everyone. Chapter 4 discusses how to help Church leadership, as representative of the Church, to be attractive. Chapter 5 discusses how to help the Church to be attractive in its ministry to the world, emphasizing that we must demonstrate to the world that we are loving people who have the love of Jesus Christ. Chapter 6 explains attractive Christianity as the culmination of the sacrificial efforts of the Church and Christians. The chapter describes how this budding Church would experience a harvest of harvests much like the mustard seed example which grew and fed birds of the air. Chapter 7 discusses why everyone should be born into the Kingdom of God and provides steps on how to be a born-again Christian.

Book Description
Life Is Never Mainly About Love and Marriage. So Learn to Live and Date for More. Many of you grew up assuming that marriage would meet all of your needs and unlock God's purposes for you. Not Yet Married is not about waiting quietly in the corner of the world for God to bring you "the one," but about inspiring you to live and date for more now. If you follow Jesus, the search for a spouse is no longer a pursuit of the perfect person, but a pursuit of more of God. He will likely write a love story for you different than the one you would write for yourself, but that's because he loves you and knows how to write a better story. Category : Religion

Book Description
Addresses some of the questions raised by Christians with same-sex attraction. As a Christian who experiences same-sex attraction, is it possible to live a life that's both faithful and fulfiling? Rachel Gilson wants to show you that it is and that it's not just a case of limping to the finish line, it's possible to run the race with joy. In this powerful and personal book, she describes her own unexpected journey of coming out and coming to faith... and what came next. As she does so, she addresses many of the questions that Christians living with same-sex attraction are wrestling with: Am I consigned to a life of loneliness? How do I navigate my friendships? Will my desires ever change? Is there some greater purpose to all this? What comes next, and next, and next? Drawing on insights from the Bible and the experiences of others, Born Again This Way provides assurance and encouragement for Christians with same-sex attraction, and paints a compelling picture of discipleship for every believer. Whatever your sexuality, this book is an inspiring testimony of how a life submitted to Jesus will be fulfilling and fruitful, but not always in the ways we might expect.

Taking America Back for God

Taking America Back for God PDF Author: Andrew L. Whitehead
Publisher: Oxford University Press
ISBN: 0190057882
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 305

Book Description
Why do white Protestants in America embrace a president who seems to violate their basic standards of morality? The answer, Andrew Whitehead and Samuel Perry argue, is "Christian nationalism," the belief that the United States is -- and should be -- a Christian nation. Knowing someone's stance on Christian nationalism, this book shows, tells us more about his or her political beliefs than race, religion, or political party. Drawing on national survey data and interviews with Americans across the political spectrum, Taking America Back for God illustrates the tremendous influence of Christian nationalism on debates about the most contentious issues dominating American public life.

Passion Pursuit

Passion Pursuit PDF Author: Linda Dillow
Publisher: Moody Publishers
ISBN: 0802485537
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 233

Book Description
A Bible study about sex for women? Now that’s different! This new study, Passion Pursuit: What Kind of Love Are You Making?, lets God’s Word speak about sex as being holy and erotic, blessed by God, and satisfying far beyond what the world can even imagine. Picture that as a headline on the cover of Cosmopolitan! By using scripture throughout the Bible, Passion Pursuit not only urges women to pursue passion but details how God has given them permission to do so. Though there is fun to be had along the way in this study, it hits hard on the questions women have but are hesitant to ask, like: What does God say is okay and not okay in the bedroom? I’m 54 years old; how can my husband still be attracted to me? Why did God make men and women so different? This audaciously bold study combines the psychological expertise of Dr Juli Slattery, formerly of Focus on the Family, along with moving stories from trusted Bible teacher and best-selling author Linda Dillow. The groups who have already done this study have seen their marriages come alive, whether they’ve been married four months or forty years; be next! PLUS! Check out the Passion Pursuit DVD for even more great teaching from Lisa Dillow and Dr. Slattery. It's the perfect resource for individuals or small groups.

Single, Gay, Christian

Single, Gay, Christian PDF Author: Gregory Coles
Publisher: InterVarsity Press
ISBN: 0830890939
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 132

Book Description
Foreword INDIES Award Finalist IVP Readers' Choice Award In an age where neither society nor the church knows what to do with gay Christians, Greg Coles tells his own story. Let's make a deal, you and me. Let's make promises to each other. I promise to tell you my story. The whole story. I'll tell you about a boy in love with Jesus who, at the fateful onset of puberty, realized his sexual attractions were persistently and exclusively for other guys. I'll tell you how I lay on my bed in the middle of the night and whispered to myself the words I've whispered a thousand times since: "I'm gay." I'll show you the world through my eyes. I'll tell you what it's like to belong nowhere. To know that much of my Christian family will forever consider me unnatural, dangerous, because of something that feels as involuntary as my eye color. And to know that much of the LGBTQ community that shares my experience as a sexual minority will disagree with the way I've chosen to interpret the call of Jesus, believing I've bought into a tragic, archaic ritual of self-hatred. But I promise my story won't all be sadness and loneliness and struggle. I'll tell you good things too, hopeful things, funny things, like the time I accidentally came out to my best friend during his bachelor party. I'll tell you what it felt like the first time someone looked me in the eyes and said, "You are not a mistake." I'll tell you that joy and sorrow are not opposites, that my life has never been more beautiful than when it was most brokenhearted. If you'll listen, I promise I'll tell you everything, and you can decide for yourself what you want to believe about me.
