Roger Brownson (1576-1635) was born in Earl's Colne, Essex, England and married Mary Underwood. Roger was a descendant of John Brownson (1540-1623) of Earl's Colne. Roger and Mary were the parents of eight children, three of whom immigrated to Connecticut in about 1635. The three children were John Brownson (1602-1680), Richard Brownson (1615-1687) and Mary Brownson Desborough (b. 1622). Descendants later settled in Connecticut, South Carolina, Vermont, Illinois and other parts of the United States.
