In the early 1960s, the Bo-Bo diesel-electric locomotive known as The Clayton was conceived as the new standard for British Railways, superseding other Type 1 classes. Today's British motive power fleet is a tribute to the pioneering work of the LMS. Cl 56, 58, 60 and HST power cars use of AC generators based on the 10800 Hawk development and Cl 77 electrics used LMS designed bogies.
