Book Description
A forbidden attraction, an unexpected love, and a madman willing to risk it all to keep humanity pure. Life in space didn't prepare Samantha for all the things she would find after her mysterious crash landing on planet X9: forests filled with massive red trees, plants that drip a liquid eerily similar to blood, and let's not forget the demonic aliens who snatch her up the very first time she leaves the wreckage of her pod. The intrepid scientist is kidnapped by one alien and gifted to another the moment she enters the village. She never expected to become a captive bride, and she certainly never expected to find herself falling for two males who can't seem to stand each other. Hunters don't get happily ever afters. Zuran is no stranger to loss, but when Samantha is ripped away from him and given to Olan, he feels the last threads of his sanity begin to fray. The breeding heat is taking over, pulling him into the inky darkness of madness he will never come back from. The spark of hope Samantha ignites in him is the only thing keeping him sane, but will he have the strength to pull himself out of the shadow of his past? As a breeder, Olan has been preparing for his mating since the moment he stepped out of the agmari bloom, but the fiery human female his chieftess presents to him is not the bride he envisioned. She's stubborn, mouthy, refuses to do as she is asked, and even has the gall to escape his hut while he sleeps. Samantha may have been bound to him by the All Mother, but Olan soon realizes his bride is going to make him earn the right to call her his. This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, places, and incidents either are the product of the author's imagination or are used fictitiously. This work of fiction is intended for adult audiences only and may be triggering for some. Strong language is used. Proceed at your own discretion. This book is an MMF romance novel. It contains adult situations, graphic sex, sexual assault, and violence.

Matter and Desire

Matter and Desire PDF Author: Andreas Weber
Publisher: Chelsea Green Publishing
ISBN: 1603586970
Category : Nature
Languages : en
Pages : 258

Book Description
Nautilus Award Gold Medal Winner, Ecology & Environment In Matter and Desire, internationally renowned biologist and philosopher Andreas Weber rewrites ecology as a tender practice of forging relationships, of yearning for connections, and of expressing these desires through our bodies. Being alive is an erotic process--constantly transforming the self through contact with others, desiring ever more life. In clever and surprising ways, Weber recognizes that love--the impulse to establish connections, to intermingle, to weave our existence poetically together with that of other beings--is a foundational principle of reality. The fact that we disregard this principle lies at the core of a global crisis of meaning that plays out in the avalanche of species loss and in our belief that the world is a dead mechanism controlled through economic efficiency. Although rooted in scientific observation, Matter and Desire becomes a tender philosophy for the Anthropocene, a "poetic materialism," that closes the gap between mind and matter. Ultimately, Weber discovers, in order to save life on Earth--and our own meaningful existence as human beings--we must learn to love.

The Undressing: Poems

The Undressing: Poems PDF Author: Li-Young Lee
Publisher: W. W. Norton & Company
ISBN: 0393635015
Category : Poetry
Languages : en
Pages : 97

Book Description
“Immediate, sensual, unrelentingly intense.” —NPR A breathtaking volume about the violence of desire and the peace of love from celebrated poet Li-Young Lee, The Undressing is a tonic for spiritual anemia; it attempts to uncover things hidden since the dawn of the world. Short of achieving that end, these mysterious, unassuming poems investigate the human violence and dispossession increasingly prevalent around the world, and the horrors the poet grew up with as a child of refugees. Lee draws from disparate sources including the Old Testament, the Dao De Jing, and the music of the Wu-Tang Clan. While the ostensive subjects of these layered, impassioned poems are wide-ranging, their driving engine is a burning need to understand our collective human mission.

Pages : 344

Book Description
An enticing savior, an old love, and one deranged alien hell-bent on destroying it all. The seemingly endless war with the Grutex has caused many inconveniences for Amanda, but none of those have been as bad as losing the funding for the project she is working on that is supposed to help save humanity. When she foolishly risks her life to continue her research, Amanda is thrown into the path of an alien, the likes of which she has never seen who claims she is his mate. The problem is, he isn't the only one making that claim. As an ambassador for his people, Oshen is used to handling delicate situations, but he has never been in one quite so delicate as this. Instead of enlightening Earth's government about the existence of Galactic Law and their right to seek aid, he finds himself face to face with the one being he's waited his whole life to find; his mate. But the little human is in trouble and he needs to convince her to leave Earth or he risks losing the most important thing he has ever had. Damned. Cursed. Gulzar has been called many things over the course of his life. Many in his tribe refuse to even look at him and who could blame them? The only light in his life has been his little goddess, the only being in the entire world who looks at him without judgment. When he gets a vision of her in distress, Gulzar knows he will do anything he can for the female he loves. This is an MMF romance that may contain any and all triggers. There are dark tones throughout the book. If you have triggers this may not be the novel for you. We understand if that is the case and hope that you find what you are looking for!

Breathing Aesthetics

Breathing Aesthetics PDF Author: Jean-Thomas Tremblay
Publisher: Duke University Press
ISBN: 147802349X
Category : Literary Criticism
Languages : en
Pages : 146

Book Description
In Breathing Aesthetics Jean-Thomas Tremblay argues that difficult breathing indexes the uneven distribution of risk in a contemporary era marked by the increasing contamination, weaponization, and monetization of air. Tremblay shows how biopolitical and necropolitical forces tied to the continuation of extractive capitalism, imperialism, and structural racism are embodied and experienced through respiration. They identify responses to the crisis in breathing in aesthetic practices ranging from the film work of Cuban American artist Ana Mendieta to the disability diaries of Bob Flanagan, to the Black queer speculative fiction of Renee Gladman. In readings of these and other minoritarian works of experimental film, endurance performance, ecopoetics, and cinema-vérité, Tremblay contends that articulations of survival now depend on the management and dispersal of respiratory hazards. In so doing, they reveal how an aesthetic attention to breathing generates historically, culturally, and environmentally situated tactics and strategies for living under precarity.
