Book Description
Why read a book about birth stories when it is so easy to watch them on the internet? Because in a book you can learn about the trials, triumphs, thoughts and motivations that the brave women are going through in their minds and emotions. Some of these stories will give you goose bumps, some will make you laugh, some will take your breath away, and some will have you cheering the mothers on. This is the second book in the series of three. In the first book, Birth Stories and Midwife Notes: In God We Trust, I describe how I became a midwife and Christian, and then include several birth stories compiled during the early years of Christian Midwife Homebirth Service. The third book, Handbook to Christian Natural Childbirth, is a collection of Christian midwife handouts, diet and other tips, and general information related to childbearing. These books are intended to supplement personal maternity care, especially if there is no access to a Christian Certified Nurse Midwife.

Book Description
New York Times bestseller What is Jesus worth to you? It's easy for American Christians to forget how Jesus said his followers would actually live, what their new lifestyle would actually look like. They would, he said, leave behind security, money, convenience, even family for him. They would abandon everything for the gospel. They would take up their crosses daily... But who do you know who lives like that? Do you? In Radical, David Platt challenges you to consider with an open heart how we have manipulated the gospel to fit our cultural preferences. He shows what Jesus actually said about being his disciple--then invites you to believe and obey what you have heard. And he tells the dramatic story of what is happening as a "successful" suburban church decides to get serious about the gospel according to Jesus. Finally, he urges you to join in The Radical Experiment -- a one-year journey in authentic discipleship that will transform how you live in a world that desperately needs the Good News Jesus came to bring.

Book Description
Millions of women have felt the power of birth, and countless women long for it. But for too many, birth can seem like a purely clinical experience — something to get through as quickly as possible in order to get on with the joys of being a mother. In Made for This, author Mary Haseltine draws on Pope St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body to show that birth is an essential part of who God created women to be, body and soul. With real-life stories from many moms and practical tips — including preparing for birth, making informed choices, helping fathers embrace their role in the birth room, and encountering the work of labor — this book is an indispensable guide for navigating the physical and spiritual dimensions of pregnancy and birth. Expectant mothers will find the tools they need to approach birth as a gift, and to invite God into the experience. About the Author Mary Haseltine is a theology graduate and a certified birth doula and childbirth educator. With a passion for building a culture of life through the teachings of the Theology of the Body, she works to bring an awareness and practice of the teachings of the Church into the realm of childbirth, mothering, and pregnancy loss. She lives in Western New York with her husband and five sons. You can find more of her writing at www.betterthaneden.com.

Christian Childbirth by Marianne Manley RN, CNM contains birth stories written by Christians for Christians and provides information related to childbearing and beyond from a Christian perspective. Christians are encouraged to trust God at this time. He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? . . . It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us Romans 8:32-34 (KJV). An anthology of birth stories which depict various scenarios which may be encountered in natural childbirth follows a brief description of how Marianne became a Christian midwife. In the handbook section, Marianne shares what she does as a midwife. She provides information on early pregnancy, priorities, time management, warning signs, common discomforts, praying for loved ones, diet tips, recipes, exercise, sex during pregnancy, labor and birth advice, pain management, supplies needed, pros and cons of water birth, cord management, what to do when the water breaks before labor, and emergency childbirth instruction for husbands. There are also guidelines for feeding on Gods Word, loving our husbands and children, being a godly wife and mother, homeschooling with a new baby, child training tips, speaking gently, avoiding gossip, and much more. Birth of a Reformation

Birth of a Reformation PDF Author: Andrew Byers
Publisher: FAITH PUBLISHING HOUSE
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 301

Book Description
The life and labors of D. S. Warner are so closely associated with a religious movement that any attempt at his biography becomes in part necessarily a history of that movement. I have therefore chosen the term, Birth of a Reformation, as a part of the title of this book. Brother Warner (to use an appellation in keeping with the idea of universal Christian brotherhood) was doubtless chosen of God as an instrument for accomplishing a particular work. What that work was, why it may be called a reformation, and why, in particular, it may be considered the last reformation, a few words of explanation by way of introduction are offered the inquiring reader. It will be necessary to take a brief glance over the Christian era and review some of the important events and conditions. We note the characteristics of the church in the days of the apostles, which, by reason of its recent founding and organization by the Holy Spirit, is naturally regarded as exemplary and ideal. It had no creed but the Scriptures and no government but that administered by the Holy Spirit, who 'set the members in the body as it pleased him'—apostles, prophets, teachers, evangelists, pastors, etc. Thus subject to the Spirit, the early church was flexible, capable of expansion and of walking in all the truth and of adjusting itself to all conditions. It was in very essence the church, the whole, and not a section or part. The apostles and early believers did not restrict themselves and become a Jewish Christian sect or any other kind of sect. Peter's way of thinking would have thus limited him, for as a Jew he declined any particular interest in Gentile converts; but the Lord through a vision changed his mind and advanced his understanding to include the universality of the Christian kingdom. The Holy Spirit in the heart was necessary, of course, to the successful government of the church by the Spirit, otherwise he could not have been understood. There were no dividing lines, for it was the will of the Lord particularly that there be "one fold and one shepherd." Jesus had prayed in behalf of the disciples "that they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me". These conditions of being subject to the word and Spirit, of leaving an open door through which greater light and truth might enter as was necessary, and of possessing the love and unity of spirit that cemented the believers together and carried them through all their persecution, constituted the ideal and normal status of God's church on earth as he gave it beginning, of which it was ordained that there should be but one, only one, as long as the world should endure. "There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling".
